E3 2009

No it wouldn't, the 360 has already gotten pretty much every other former major PS3 exclusive and vice versa. There's only two AAA major exclusive 3rd party titles for each system left. It's balanced, don't topple the balance. Balance, balance, BALANCE! :cmad:
I say topple the s*** out of the balance so that everything is available to everybody whose system can handle it. Exclusives are stupid.

Well, I say keep the balance. If one goes, the other should no problem. If one stays, they both stay. Balance forever:ss:

I enjoy my balance :)

Well, I just own a 360 and wii, so whatever has to be done to get everything on the 360, that's what should be done. :o

Site is up for Kojim'a new game:

http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/next/

Joystiq noticed that the webpage source code lists keywords “MGS” and “Metal Gear” in the meta description. We’ll soon find out what it all means.

Yeah, it's another Metal Gear game. Sorry Isildur'sHeir, but it isn't going to be an Xbox 360 exclusive. The question now is whether or not it will even appear on the system.

That doesn't mean it's a new Metal Gear game, it could be a big red herring on Kojima's part. Let us keep our hopes up for Tornado Outbreak!

http://www.psu.com/Rockstar-has-no-plans-to-show-anything-at-E3-News--a007218-p0.php

Looks like we have another fairly big name absent from E3 this year, Rockstar

Rockstar has squashed any hopes of clapping eyes on the elusive L.A. Noire (and anything else, for that matter) at this year’s E3 convention, revealing that the company has “no plans” to showcase anything at the Los Angeles –based event.

Speaking to Eurogamer, a company spokesperson stated: "No plans to show anything at E3 at the moment but things can change.”

So, what does this mean for PS3 owners? Well, no glimpse at Red Dead Redemption and no L.A. Noire – the latter of which is no longer believed to be exclusive to Sony’s black behemoth.

It’s worth pointing out that this may not rule out the possibility of making any announcements at the show, however. Stay tuned.

What is with these companies? There are too many damn game conventions these days, I guess. E3 doesn't have a monopoly on all the big announcements anymore.

Does Rockstar usually show things at these events? They seem to release trailers on their own time frame, and bring journalists to them in order to show off their games.

punch:cmad:

Now that I have that out of my system, as a Metal Gear fan I actually wouldn't want another game myself. I feel like Kojima has done and said pretty much everything he can with that series and any further games would just be blatant milking, in my opinion.

I think Snakes story is pretty much wrapped, but i think there are more stories to tell within that series.

I would rather Kojima move on to something else. He has been trying for years to get away from Metal Gear, always saying he was done after a game came out. I think he should go out and use his imagination to do something new and original. Which the game industry needs, something new instead of sequel after sequel.

Agree 100%.

Hideo Kojima is a visionary and his talents would be completely wasted by doing endless sequels.

I agree, but not if its Metal Gear. That series is too good to end, at least at this point.

I like Metal Gear as much as the next guy and I definitely believe that Snakes saga should end with MGS4, but a new saga would be cool. However, this is actually a great point to have a cool down point for the series. At least for Kojima in my opinion. I just want to see Kojima move on to other things for the time being.

Yea thats why i dont believe this announcement is a full on Metal Gear game. Maybe a Subsistance type deal or a port to the 360, but not an out right MGS5.

If this is a MG game then it's most definitely the extended version of MGS4. We know it's coming, it's the only MGS-related announcement that would make sense, unless it's a new Portable Ops or something.

I'm still doubtful if it's an actually MGS-related announcement.

Plain and simple economics is what is going to keep MGS4 off the 360. It's not worth the time, effort, hassle, and most of all MONEY to put the game on the Xbox 360.

With the era of DLC prevalent on the 360 and PS3, is an extended version of MGS4 really worth putting out there on retail stores?

I think a port of MGS4 is more likely this yr than an announcement of MGS5. Im not saying MGS4 will be ported to the 360.

They've always done it before with every other game in the series and I will be very, very, very surprised if they don't with MGS4. They may have the extended stuff through DLC as well, but it'll probably be in retail stores too.

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/14/telltale-to-reveal-new-game-series-at-e3/

In a self-congratulatory press release celebrating the company's fifth anniversary and the sale of its millionth episode, episodic puzzle-adventure developer Telltale games has indicated that "a new series in development will be announced at E3." The press release doesn't contain any more information about the new series, though we're always happy to hear that Telltale is working on something new.

Chances are that it will be another point-and-click adventure series based on an existing, popular property, though we'd be very interested in seeing a new, home-grown IP coming from the developer. Whatever it turns out to be, we look forward to finding out at E3 early next month.

They've always done it before because there was no way to download the rather trivial features included in Integral, Substance, and Subsistence. Konami had no choice but to sell it as a separate game.

However, the video game market has become far more competitive with shelf space becoming incredibly limited, along with the prevalence of DLC, I just think there really is no need at all for Konami to release an expanded edition of Metal Gear Solid 4 in retail stores. Especially when they can cut out the retailer middle man and reduce a lot of the competition with it being just on the PlayStation Store or possibly even Konami's horrid Konami ID/store bullcrap.

Trivial features? Have you actually played Substance and Subsistence? There was significant amount of extras in both of those. Substance has an extensive amount of VR missions that could have easily been a stand alone budget priced title. Not to mention Subsistence introduced the full 3D camera to the series.

Can't speak for MGS: I as it never came to the States, though I know the VR missions part that was stand alone was excellent

I'm sticking by what I'm saying. It's almost a traditional at this point. If they do it as DLC it most likely will come from that horrid service as that's how they've released all the add-on content for online. I definitely think it'll be in stores as well.

If we can see Halo, Gears and Fallout add-on DLC on disk format, is it that hard to believe we won't see the same for MGS?

Im with you Teardrop. If there is a Subsistence type deal with MGS4, itll be on a hard copy. Not everyone is linked to the internet and Konami will make this title available to everyone, if they are to do one.
