E3 2009

I think that all three consoles have very different types of fanboys.

The Nintendo fanboys seem to be the most rabid who refuse to think that Nintendo does somethings wrong. Sorta like Square-Enix fans. I find them to be the most amusing because they're not whiny little bastards or rude or anything. They just really, really, REALLY love Nintendo.

While the PlayStation fanboys come off as the biggest crybabies who cry and make rants like this:

http://tiredgamer.ytmnd.com/
They're the most annoying.

The Xbox fanboys on the other hand I find to be completely off putting by their rather *******ish attitude. They're not the type that would care about a multiplatform Mass Effect or Gears of War. They're just....*****. Especially going by Xbox Live users

Yeah, the far left side of the Nintendo fanboys are crazy. Fanboy has a bad stigma, but they aren't all that bad or anything. I'd say there's a little bit of fanboy in the vast majority of people. Anyone with any irrational attachment to a console or company would technically be a fanboy.

Kojima is nothing at all like Itagaki. Itagaki hates anything from Sony with a rabid passion. Kojima on the other hand likes the Xbox.

Itagaki is an obnoxious fanboy in game developer form. Kojima on the other hand prefers to treat his games as if they were an artform, it doesn't matter on what platform.

I know that, I was only using that as an example. I still stick by what I say, though. If it really didn't matter that much to him, we would have seen more games directly from him on the Microsoft and Nintendo consoles.

It's rumored that there will be a revitalization of the Snatcher IP with Suda 51 on the Wii. The Boktai/Lunar Knights games are always on Nintendo's handheld consoles.

If it's a new IP, I really wouldn't be surprised to see Kojima's next game as an Xbox 360 exclusive.

I'm not trying to totally exclude the possibility or anything, but I don't know if he'd drop Sony on a dime like that personally. May very well be wrong, we'll see I suppose. Plus, it'll totally **** up the balance:waa:

After all the games that Kojima has made on PlayStation platforms, how is making one game dropping them on a dime and **** up the balance?

It's not like putting Metal Gear Solid 4 on the Xbox 360 or what Square-Enix did in making Final Fantasy XIII multiplatform or what Koei-Tecmo did by making the Ninja Gaiden Sigma games on the PlayStation 3.

How is it not? You make a new IP for a different console exclusively and exclude all your fans on that specific console. I don't mean dropping them like Square did to Nintendo back in the day or anything, but you know what I mean.

Go back and read some of me and Pat's earlier posts to see what the balance is referring to. It was more a joke then anything, though.

It's not like putting Metal Gear Solid 4 on the Xbox 360 or what Square-Enix did in making Final Fantasy XIII multiplatform.

I didn't say it was:huh:

And just to clarify, I'm not saying that Kojima absolutely wouldn't develop for the 360 or whatever, I just think that it's unlikely he would take on a new major IP off the PS brand. I'll gladly admit I could very well be wrong and we could see it, but I'll be at least somewhat surprised

In, summary, they're all dumb.

Well, here is something I stumbled upon:

http://www.siliconera.com/2009/05/13/is-kojimas-next-game-tornado-outbreak/

An ad teasing a new game from Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima popped up in Famitsu. Guesses range from Metal Gear Solid: Raiden to Mario in the clouds. Our pick? Tornado Outbreak.

This wild guess is partially based on the stormy image, but also because Tornado Outbreak exists… sort of. Gamefly thinks its real and lists Tornado Outbreak in their database with Konami as the publisher. The retailer reports Tornado Outbreak is slated for three consoles: Wii, PlayStation 3, and the Xbox 360. Gamefly has a good record for outing titles before press releases so Tornado Outbreak is probably real, but the connection is admittedly flimsy.

Ok, first off, this is pretty nutty for the simple fact that this does not seem like anything Kojima would work on and most likely sounds like some shovelware title for the Wii or something.

However, I must say, it fits that ad pretty damn well. Despite all this speculation of people seeing stuff in the clouds....if you look at it purely superficially, it does just look like a very stormy sky, with two people looking up.

Of course, it's probably not connected. I just don't see Kojima doing something like this. If it ends up being true Kojima will will definitely have snuck this one by me. It's still kind of weird coincidence either way

Lol.

Sounds like a disaster themed game or some sort. Though, if this ends up being Kojima Productions next, it'll probably be more. I really don't think that's it, but it's kind of odd that a coincidence like that popped up

No idea, but I'm getting this weird image in my head of Katamari Damacy, but instead of a cute little alien you play as a tornado. :/

Well, when you put it like that...it seems like something Kojima might very well do:oldrazz:

I would probably call myself a Nintendo fanboy, as I grew up with the company and some of my favorite franchises ever come from them. I actually skipped the N64 and GC since the systems didn't appeal to me, and I sort of ran to the new Sony machines, but Nintendo talked me into buying a Wii and I fell in love with the company again. :O

But on the other hand I love my 360, and have mucho fun with that too.

I'm not really rabid crazy though...so does that make me a failed fanboy, as I usually keep rather level headed about all three systems?

Doesn't sound like it to me. You did skip out of the N64/GC system (which is more then fine as far as I'm concerned). Fanboys are usually people who go to systems and just senselessly defense or stick with them for more or less irrational reasons. They don't have to be rabbid or anything

Well, I have some not so cool news doods and doodettes

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/14/beyond-good-and-evil-2-likely-skipping-e3/

According to UGO, it looks like Beyond Good & Evil 2: Pey'j and Jade's Bogus Journey (working title*) will not be appearing at E3. When booking E3 appointments, UGO was told by Ubisoft, "We're not doing any BG&E stuff at E3." Furthermore, Ubisoft even said not to expect a showing of the game during its press conference.

So there you go, don't expect any BG&E 2 news or hands-on sessions. Rest assured though, if we hear anything different when we touch down in LA, we'll be clawing our way to the front of the line for a chance to play. Not because we're dying to play it. No, we'll do it for you.

Disappointing news, hopefully we'll see something from the game soon.

Also, looks like the teaser website is up for Kojima Productions announcement:

http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/next/

Nothing but a bunch of clouds and some wind, could this really be Tornado Outbreak! Also certainly not, but it's there. However, with all this thing to do with clouds, I'm beginning to think more and more this might have something to do with Boktai. No more sun in that world may lead to a good premise

Also, here's some fairly amusing things that people have found in the clouds for the magazine ad:

Awe, I was hoping for some BG&E footage and announcements during E3. What a bummer. :(

Ditto, same here. Makes me wonder how much longer we're going to have to wait for the game if it's not even ready for an E3 showing

A video game board I visit has about a new thread about a "rumor" about MGS4 coming to 360 daily. :hehe:

I hope the rumor is true. It will balance out PS3 getting Ninja Gaiden Sigma (which is used to be 360 exclusive).

Bwahahaha. I love the one where the kid is like:

"Also, there's an odd series of numbers and periods in the center of the right page. It seems to be some kind of code, so I've been working non-stop for 12 hours trying to decrypt it."

Maybe someone needs to tell him its a damn DATE. Haha.

Site is up for Kojim'a new game:

http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/next/

Joystiq noticed that the webpage source code lists keywords “MGS” and “Metal Gear” in the meta description. We’ll soon find out what it all means.

<meta name="keywords" content="Hideo Kojima, MGS,METAL GEAR, NEXT, game, konami, kojima game, KJP, Kojima Production ">

No it wouldn't, the 360 has already gotten pretty much every other former major PS3 exclusive and vice versa. There's only two AAA major exclusive 3rd party titles for each system left. It's balanced, don't topple the balance. Balance, balance, BALANCE! :cmad:

Yeah, that one was my favorite, too.
