E3 2010

alas, I am now convinced to finally get a 360, definitely gettin that new slim version, then I can enjoy the best of both worlds tho I wouldn't get live, too used to playing online for free to pay now, and if the premium psn turns out to be worth it, I'd rather pay for that

One of the prices for Kinect was said to be $189 in the pre-E3 show, though it was said there would be more than one package

So, what does everyone grade Microsoft's presentation?

Seems like a C+ to me. Started off really strong with Black Ops and MGS Rising (my personal favorite of the show). But slowly went downhill after the unveiling of Kinect. Some of the media center stuff you can do is pretty cool, but that alone is not worth buying it for. And thus far most of the games seem like Wii shovel ware. The dance game looked like it could be fun though.

The new 360 has a decent design, but doesn't seem to fit the "casual" market that they're trying to appeal to now. Nice that it finally comes with wireless though, instead of having to buy a $100 adapter.

I'm hoping we (I work at GameStop) do a great trade in deal for the new 360 like we did for the black Wii. That deal was "trade in your white Wii, get black one for 50 bucks" That was a great deal.

g4's show started btw, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimension's showing, looks cool. 2099 Spidey!

Overall thoughts for their conference:

-I missed the first half hour, but it sounds like the breakdown is Call of Duty: Black Ops (Not interested), Gears of War 3 (mildly interested), and Metal Gear Solid: Rising (Not interested if Post-MGS4, unless it's a new character with the codename Raiden, if that's the case, much more interested)
-The Cyctek game had me slightly interested, but there was really nothing to the trailer
-Halo: Reach seemed fun, it'll be a decent rental like the other titles.
-I know people were predicting a Kinect heavy conference, but I didn't think they'd use half of the entire conference for it. The only games they showed that interested me were the Fitness title, the Dance Factory title, and the Star Wars title. Besides that, I wasn't interested in the other party titles or social features all that much. Seems everyone else is big on the non-game aspects of it, but I still feel pretty take it or leave it towards them.
-I liked the 360 redesign, but I'll be sticking with the original model

Overall, pretty lackluster for me, but I really didn't have much interest in the Kintec stuff. I'm sure those who had more interest probably were more into the show. I will say, I was pretty surprised that there were some titles that interested me for it, as I expected none to.

Unfortunately this was Microsoft's weakest E3 performance to date. I mean, you can tell they were banking it all on the Kinect. I don't think it landed the "oohs and ahhhs" they were hoping for. Hopefully the games will improve over time.

Halo Reach looks intense.

Yea I just started working at gamestop, I can't wait to check out those new 360s.

Does the new Xbox offer anything new?

I will wait & see what people think of the new 360 in terms of performance & if does or not perform better in any way before spending $300 bucks

I'd put money on XIV showing up on the 360 though.
I dunno about that. If Microsoft makes a deal with Square-Enix, then Electronic Arts, Warner Bros., Atari, and Activision Blizzard are going to want special deals as well, which will end up leading Microsoft completely reworking their policies regarding Xbox Live, which is something that they don't want to do.

Is it really a great deal though? You'd lose all your save files.

Well, the Xbox slim has built in wifi so you don't have to spend 100 bucks on an adapter.

Ppl are lying if they don't think using ur voice and hands to control music and movies is neat. So far that's the coolest thing iv seen Kinect do.

Yeah, but the PlayStation Eye can do that as well if they made the applications for it.

Very underwhelming considering how much they're hyping it up.

I'll need to see the other press conferences before I give any of them a grade, but my opinion on Microsoft's breaks down like this:

What I liked.
-Halo space combat? Sign me up.
-The new 360 looks pretty sharp. Since I'm still rocking the original 20GB HDD I think I'll get one.
-I'm generally not a sports guy, but I think ESPN was a good "get" for Microsoft.
-Kinect looks awesome as an interface device.
-Rising looks pretty cool.

What I didn't.
-Kinect as a game controller. Though I'm open to having my mind changed if developers can step their game up.
-Gears of Duty
-Call of War

I wonder if u can use the racing wheel plus the kinect with forza 3. Because actually using ur head to be able to look around corners and inside the car is awesome but just using ur arms to drive the car I'm not crazy about. I love the feedback that my racing wheel gives me.

This G4 stuff is annoying no actual conferences ?
