E3 2015

what are the chances that Fallout 4 is announced at E3 for a release later this year?

too soon?

Square has moved their press conference from 9AM to 10PM.

I kind of had a feeling they'd probably move their conference. It doesn't do anyone all that good to go head-to-head with another conference, or digital event, as Nintendo calls it.

Yeah no point in any of the big boys clashing.

I read somewhere else that someone mentioned they thought Square did it on purpose just so their conference would get more talk and attention. At first I thought that was far-fetched, but the more I think about it, the more I could see it being true all things considered.

I mean, I'm not planning to watch it either way, but it did get people talking about it a good amount.

That trick works once. If they do it get next year I'll give their conference a miss just for that. :woot:

Just for clarity, I typo'd the time change above. It's 10 AM, not PM.

After Doom 3, I have no expectations for Doom 4.

From the early impressions, Doom 4 is a very different game than its predecessor.

I would be very surprised if it comes out this year.

^^yeah, I figured if it were to come out this year, it would have already been announced.

but then I thought I read somewhere that it could release this year.

have there been other big name titles announced at E3 that came out later that same year?

I think the earliest would be spring 2016 for Fallout 4.

I'm sure there's probably some examples, but it is extremely rare nowadays.

You say that now...

Nintendo just posted this, pretty much confirms what I expected about that Zelda delay tweet, they weren't being super literal in the 2015 thing, they will have some "sneak peeks" at 2016 material:

EDIT: Well, I guess I shouldn't say that for sure since this is a closed door thing for business insiders such as journalists and retail, but the odds that a huge chunk of content will be brought exclusively for them is unlikely.

EDIT 2: Well, as you can see, the image as been deleted. Trust me, it mentioned 2016 stuff.

I'd be interested in seeing what they come up with for Doon 4.

How many AAA games are "fantastic"? There aren't many Infinites or TLoU out there. Something like Shovel Knight plays better then any AAA released, potentially ever. And that is what I care about most, gameplay. As long as a game is in HD, I am good. And that is an eye fatigue thing.

There are a lot more gems in the Indies then AAA titles these days imo.

What if I told you TLoU wasn't fantastic? Good.. But not fantastic. IMO of course, which I guess is what this comes down to. I'm sorry but as much as I enjoy SK.. I'd rather play big AAA backed Naughty Dog Crash Bandicoot game.

SK is good and plucks on my nostalgia strings.. But I've put maybe two hours in it.. Where as I'm constantly going back to Shadow of Mordor.

For me? It being fun to play through multiple times.

The story was great but at the end of the day I just really didn't have fun with it. I go back to what I said about SoM.. I can always go back to that game and have a blast. I beat TLOU one time and that was it.

A fantastic game, for me, is something I find myself playing through WAY more than once.

I think it's a fantastic game. Granted, it's not perfect.

But it's probably the most engrossing game I have played in 10 years. I can't think of any other game that is so character driven. The gameplay is excellent, the music is wonderful, and the story itself is good. All that combined with movie-quality writing and acting makes it in my view a fantastic game.

Personally, I have played it 6 times. On grounded. So, that may be an opinion thing.

Still, I can see how it's not something everyone wants to replay. In that way, it's like a great movie, or book. You read it once.

I'm weird with games. I'll admit. I'm not denying that TLOU is at the end of the day a good game. But it's a one and done for me. I didn't even bother playing the DLC that came with the PS4 version.. because I didn't care. The story was done and over.. everything I needed to know was told to me in THAT story. The fact that they're probably thinking about a sequel upsets me.

I think though it being *so* much like a movie drags it down a little bit for me. Almost like I'd rather be watching it than playing it.

I dunno. Like I said.. Weird.
