Early review of Eragon - ouch!

I've never heard an 11 year old say "mockery". I don't even think I know an 11 year old who knows what that means.

I thought critics were always wrong, right guys, or maybe that is just critics that don't like movies you like . . I am confused.

"The film is edited as if it's been carved out of a bigger and maybe better movie - perhaps in the interesting of getting it down to a reasonable time, but the result is an edit job full of awkward transitions, scenes that seem to end before they should, and a herky jerky pace that pulls you out of the film."

Oh great. Fox is at it again.

Another hack job from Fox? Who would've thought. At this rate it's best not to anticipate any Fox films as they are usually cut down to a short runtime which makes the film a mess. *sighs*

I never expected the critics to like this anywho. My figuring is you'll eitehr like it or you'll hate it. Kinda like people do with Pirates Of The Caribbean. Believe it or not there are fair share of Rinsg haters too. Critic's hated Mr And Mrs Smith, The Da Vinci Code and the Da Vinci code was a global hit. I think it won't make more then its budget back in the U.S but i think it globally will do great. The critics are in love with Charlottes Web anyway for on rotten tomatoes it had 85 % possitively. Still think Eragon should ahve opened on Wed the 13 because Charlottes Web could take a bigger chunk then thaught.

I think this movie has always been doomed to mediocracy.

Mediocrity? At least it doesn't sound like Uwe Boll sickness.

This movie doesnt have sean connery to voice the dragon, so yea i dont care for it.

eragon- aragorn
some of the scenes from the ads are direct replications from lord of the rings like when the elves arrive at helms deep. it looks very cool but it's trying to be something its not.

New review: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/30972

Not a positive. :D

Here comes a new issue. Look, I don't have problems with female dragons, but when you have an obnoxius hero and Brom, a tired master (Jeremy Irons in his tired-of-bad-scripts mode), the only thing you don't need is a sexy voice (Rachel Weisz) coming from you dragon. Come On! I want a warrior dragon with a commanding voice like... Ehh... Sean Connery? Not a sexy one!!
Hehe!

I heard this movie/story is exactly Star Wars ANH, except with a LOTR like setting. :whatever: One guy who read the sequel book said its exactly like ESB.

How in the world did this teenager's book get published?? Isnt he massively infringing on copyrights here??

Star Wars couldnt get remade no matter how far you got George Lucas away from it.

Geez, I want to download this movie just so I can laugh at how close this movie is to Star Wars. lol!

This movie is gonna get burned!

No for in the end of Eldest Eragon learns Murtough is his brother and they are on oppisite sides. One good brother one bad one. Ajihad is killed and no one dies in Empire. Eldest is not like Two Towers or Empire. To me its the better of the 2 books so far.

I've heard Eldest is more original than Eragon.
And no, Paolini is not infringing on copyright laws.
Because then Star Wars would be infringing. Both are based on Joseph Campbell's "The Hero with a Thousand Faces", which is basically a how to guide on how to create a hero story using traditional mythological conventions.

Ok...but regardless is this movie still a beat for beat version of ANH with a LOTR like setting?

Somewhat, but I don't remember a Saphira counter-part, or a counterpart for Ajihad, in ANH.

I'm seeing it this weekend. I never agree with critics. I'm hoping that my utterly low expectations will make it good.

A dull, average movie ............ what a surprise!

2006 can't end soon enough.

i just saw it, and let me tell you, after so many bad review, i was really surprised...

It´s even worst.
The only good about it was Rachel Weisz, which makes a good job at the voice, it suits the dragon.
All the rest is complete crap, with the only thing watchable is the last fight between the Eragon and Carslyle´s character.
I went to see it with people that read and liked the books, and they loathed the movie, saying that they changed it top to bottom.

It´s very badly directed (nothing makes sense), a terrible script (nothing makes sense) and horrible editing, all scenes seem very confined (there is the action scene, then the romantic one, then the dead of a friend, then the mentor/student, and so on...)

Disney's Hercules is a beat-for-beat remake of Superman the Movie.

Hmm...
I guess I shouldn't keep my expectations high then.

I would have liked Eragon if I hadn't read some of Anne McCaffrey's "Dragonriders of Pern" series. The first book in that series came out in 1968.

Whoa...I've forgotten all about Anne McCaffrey. Great writer. Thanks for the reminder.
