Moriarty Takes A Stand On X-MEN 3!!

Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...

Okay... let’s review.

<A href="http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=6437" target=_blank>Here&#8217;s my review for the first X-MEN movie.

And here&#8217;s my review for the second X-MEN movie

And then last year, I published a review from an anonymous spy about the X-MEN 3 script as it existed at a particular point in time, an article which also addressed some of my ongoing concerns with the way Fox manages its franchises. Here&#8217;s that piece in case you missed it.

I like this franchise. I think it has limitless possibility. I think the second movie was a definite improvement on the first film, and I&#8217;ve been crossing my fingers now for the past few months because I started to hear some genuinely good buzz on this new sequel, and I was hoping for something better than the rushed half-assery that early reports indicated. This morning, I found myself sitting alone in the Daryl Zanuck theater on the Fox lot, and I had all of about two minutes after I walked into the room before the lights went dark and the Fox logo came up. In those two minutes, I repeated the mantra that Harry had whispered to himself before the first X-MEN film six years ago.

&#8221;Please don&#8217;t suck. Please don&#8217;t suck. Please don&#8217;t suck.&#8221;

And this morning, in that darkened theater, the movie gods answered my prayers. Because X-MEN: THE LAST STAND (since no 3 appears anywhere in the title on the actual film) is not only a worthy addition to the franchise, it actually feels like it is simply part of one big movie, absolutely on par with the first two films.

Wow, I can't believe it! That was an awesome review from Moriarty.

Hmm...

"And considering how good James Marsden is in his brief screen time, I would have liked to have seen more from him." - Moriarty

Hmm...to have seen more of him means he wouldn't die. lol. At least I'm hoping.

Give credit where it's due...

After the relentless bashing X-Men 3 got at that site, they come out with a pretty damned positive review.

Good to hear.

Just remember... as always... we are individual reviewers with individual tastes. The site has never had uniform opinions about anything. The whole reason for more than one reviewer is because we frequently disagree.

Good read Moriarty. Good read. I was in the area...why didn't you call me up so I could have kept you company on the movie :P

OmgOmgOmg! :xmen::xmen::xmen:

I liked the way Moriarty was geeking out throughout the review. It sounds like the movie is filled with geekasm moments like Nightcrawler's White House attack in X2.

OH, YEAH! :D

Thanks, Moriarty.

Even the good reviews are saying that Rogue wasn't well handled, I haven't yet heard anything positive from that part. It seems like she was in the movie for about 5 minutes

That aside, everything else seems pretty good, Beast and Kitty are the two new characters I'm looking forward to seeing.

Moriarty, was Storm's tidal wave in your version?

Or a more accurate question... how much stuff shown in the TV spots and trailers has either been cut, or changed?

There's been reports of the tidal wave being cut... of Wolverine's speech to Iceman in the subbasement before the final battle (Magneto's got an army. You go to war, you might not come home, she might not come home. You ready for that?) being different.

Some of that stuff is stuff I was really looking forward to. And I know that stuff in trailers and TV spots doesn't always make the final cut (I still remember a TV spot for X-Men with Cyclops complaining to Xavier about Wolverine, about how he won't follow orders, and Xavier says "Give him an order worth following, and he will"... wasn't even in the deleted scenes on the DVD), but it seems like A LOT of stuff that has been advertised is being cut or changed.

And lastly, is there any Cyclops update from your version? And how was the whole situation handled?

For someone who feels very strongly AGAINST his death, will it play out in an acceptable manner?

^

Lmao, we're still holding out for extended cuts of the film I see. :p

Perhaps they took the Storm tidal wave out because it looked crappy, or wasn't a good reflection of her powers.

Hmmmmmmmmmm,

Sounds like we are being set-up for Harrys 'hate it' review.

No They Took The Good Stuff Out Cause They Are Complete Morons.

I don't think you can judge that it's good stuff from the quick glimpses we've had in the trailers. They need to be judged against the backdrop of the entire scene.

Kind of shocking isn't it? Still, I'll wait and see it with my own eyes.

Actually I can judge now I know that they did a n alternate scene which filmed where rogue did not take the cure, but they decided to go with the lame ass one instead.

Probably.

I'll bet he enjoys it. Harry likeses his funny book movies, and this one delivers the goods. I'll bet he likes it more than he expects to.
