UK, July 4, 2008 - Aaron Eckhart - AKA Harvey Dent/Two-Face in The Dark Knight - has been blabbing this week about wanting to swap super-villainy for super-heroism in his next role.

When asked by iFMagazine if he would be up for donning spandex in the future, he said: "Is it for me? Are you nuts. I want my piece."

He also had this to say about the rumours he might be in the running for Captain America: "I don't know, I'm getting older - I don't know if there are any old superheroes." When reminded of Robert Downey Jr. in Iron Man, he said "That's true, bas**rd!"

Instead, its D.C.'s The Green Lantern that he's a fan of: "I've forgotten his characteristics and what he does, but I remember liking the Green Lantern a lot."

No matter which character he plays, he's definitely open to making another superhero adaptation after his experiences on The Dark Knight.

"I would, because they're fun to do," says Eckhart. "I had fun doing this movie. I like action in general. I like to run around and be on cool motorcycles. I always get a tinge of jealousy when I see it and I'm not in it. I don't know what's left. It would have to be a good script and a good director."

He would be cool in either role IMO....I kind of figured out the Two-Face thing we were talking about.

Sorry, don't you know the rules, one superhero/villain per actor. No crossovers.

He would be a most excellent Hal Jordan.

did he say riding motorcycles, does he ride the batpod?

yeah, he could be a good hal, but like shadow said one superhero/supervillian per actor.

Unless he moves to Marvel film, no chance. But people will remember him as a grotesquely disfigured villain so that instantly shuts him off from leading part.

Poor starring choice indeed by Eckhart, he could vie for the Captain America role if he hadn't taken Two Face.

Except they aren't in the same universe.

DC is DC. Only pretentious people think their universe is exclusive from everyone else. :o

Except they aren't in the same universe.

uh, yes actually they are, two face and green lantern are both in the same universe. sorry, but this isnt worth even explaining

In the comics, yes, but these aren't the comics, so it's a moot point. Batman Begins universe =/= Green Lantern film universe. They aren't connected in anyway so it would be no different whatsoever than if he had turned around and done a Marvel film afterward.

A Green Lantern film universe doesn't even exist yet, so IMO it's too early to make that call. I don't believe in the exclusivity of DC movie franchises as a lot of people do - including, apparently the higher-ups at WB themselves.

That said, the only reason I'm against Eckhart as GL is simply because the recognition he'll invariably get from his performance as Two-Face, to whatever degree that is, is gonna end up being his legacy in DC movies. I mean, you didn't see Gene Hackman playing Jim Gordon in Burton's Batman.

Eckhart could be good.

He'd need to actually learn what Hal and the GL mythos to do this well, though.

Common's got the same limited mindset in JL.

Common said:
“I would love to say it will go through,” Common, who was cast as John Stewart, the Green Lantern, told MTV News of where he stood with “JLA.” “I pray and hope that it will. Keep speaking it for real and it’s gonna happen.”

“All of us have the superhero in us,” he enthused as a rally cry.

When Common spoke to us in February, he called being associated with “Justice League” a blessing, particularly because John Stewart was one of the only black superheroes. Now he’s got another reason he hopes it goes forward, a reason a little closer to home.

“For me, my daughter on Halloween she played Wonder Woman. She was Wonder Woman,” Common smiled. “For her to see her dad up there [next to Wonder Woman] - it would be beautiful.”

I really just cant wait to see him as Two-Face.

I'd love to see Eckhart as Jordan but for now I am opposed to it.

It's nice that Eckhart's interested in doing GL but he's already playing one of DC's best known villains in the current Batman series. And i feel that there are more than enough actors out there who could play Hal Jordan that don't have that clinging to them.
No thanks, there's only one actor for Hal Jordan

Once nearly Cyclops, wanted to play Superman... could this his thing? Hmm...

In the comics, yes, but these aren't the comics, so it's a moot point. Batman Begins universe =/= Green Lantern film universe. They aren't connected in anyway so it would be no different whatsoever than if he had turned around and done a Marvel film afterward.

Seeing as how the Green Lantern movie hasn't been made yet, there's absolutley no telling whether or not they could be connected.

Personally, I think it'd be a mistake to not connect their movies like Marvel is doing. DC should've done with Justice League what Marvel's doing with The Avengers a long time ago.

So yeah, I dont think Eckhart should play Green Lantern, partly because it'll be wierd when the Justice League movie happens (and I pray it will), and Bale is acting next to Eckhart as Hal Jordan, and partly because that's Nathan Fillion's role.

Sorry, don't you know the rules, one superhero/villain per actor. No crossovers.
Tell that to Rebecca Romijn (X-Men & The Punisher), Ryan Reynolds (Blade: Trinity & Wolverine), and, well, I guess Jon Favreau wasn't a hero/villain in his two superhero movie roles (Daredevil & Iron Man)... and someone should DEFINITELY have told that to Halle Berry (X-Men & Catwoman).

Rebecca Romijn played a non-comic character role in the Punisher.

Ryan Reynolds played a nobody in Blade. Yeah, who really knows much on Blade before seeing the movie, even less with Hannibal (Lecter?).

Jon Favreau played an almost mute character in Iron Man. And starred in a movie that Marvel might want to forget in Daredevil.

Halle Berry is in Catwoman. Nuff said.

Actually there'd be no problem if Eckhart lands on a Marvel job. When he starred as a disfigured villain in DC Comics, now there lies the problem to land a starring role in Marvel comics. I'm not saying he's "banned" from supporting role, but Steve Rogers or Hal Jordan can't be seen as the Two Face.

This is a stupid notion that nobody outside of the members of this message board actually cares about. The Batman movies are in their own universe separate from any other DC movies that may yet be released. If Eckhart were to land the role of Hal Jordan or anyone else it would just be another movie role, and that's all there is to it. It's just the same as Harrison Ford having two high profile roles as both Han Solo and Indiana Jones. There's no "rule" against someone playing a role in a comic book movie, and then later on playing a different role in a different movie. It's nothing but a silly, made up idea.

It's an unwritten rule.

Show of hands on this thread who thinks it would be awkward to have Eckhart play Dent and Hal Jordan. I'm thinking the majority will say it's awkward, the same thing will be said by people out of this board including those who have the say in WB.

And please, the analogy doesn't cut it. Indiana Jones and Han Solo are two different roles, it's not like both chars crossover in the movie or comic books. The Batman movies are separate from GL movies but people who are viewing them don't see them as mutually exclusive. Even Marvel will not want to give Cap role to Eckhart now. A disfigured Steve Rogers? No thanks.
