Fantasy Elden Ring film reportedly in the works from Alex Garland/A24

A24 landing Death Stranding and Elden Ring is quite something. Can't help but wonder what sort of scope we're looking at here. A faithful adaptation of the game narrative would be... expensive, to say the least.

Yeah I’m really curious how they will do this. I’m not opposed to them trying to tell the story of the main game in movie form, with a lone Tarnished fighting their way through the Lands Between and encountering allies (who later turn into foes) along the way. But that would be a HUGE thing to cram into a 2-hour movie. On the other hand, perhaps they will use this to flesh out the backstory of ER so we can get more clarity on the demigods and the Shattering. There is plenty to explore there, and since that’s the stuff that GRRM had the biggest hand in (and he’s the one who keeps talking about the movie) I think there is a chance they could tell that story. Maybe a clever way to do it would be to do a movie that begins with Marika spurning Godfrey and creating the first of the Tarnished. It could center on one of the Tarnished who somehow is able to reenter the Lands Between, so it would have a similar feel to the game but they would interact with demigods in their prime. I don’t know, just spitballing here.

Also, in terms of casting, Thomasin McKenzie is the ONLY choice for Melina.
