Election Night: Where Will You Be?

It will be historic. We might just see the election of the most openly anti-Capitalist candidate to ever run. Hooray History.

I wonder how the people felt when Rome was burning after they had tried to warn of the coming doom.

Just thanking God that one way or another this damn election is over. It feels like a TV series that ran too long instead of going out on top and as a result got stale. This election is the "Friends," or "Fraiser," of political elections!

On a side note, I'd very much like Joe Biden to sing Toss Salad and Scrambled Eggs at the after party.

No matter who wins, I would like to see Obama/Biden assaulted by Hand Banana the way Carl was. I know Hand Banana is just a cartoon, but I can still laugh insanely at the visual picture.

Yay! Me too! =D

Me Three.

I got up all early (7:30 is very early for me) and was bracing for a long line, but got out of there in 15 minutes. :yay: Some guy in front of me came out and told one of the people working there that he wrote in the leader of his rifle club in Canada.

I'd be very interested to see a truncated list of all the write-ins. I bet there is some hilarity to be found.

My girl and I are throwing a pro-Obama party at our house. The invites were for optimists to bring champagne and pessimists to bring whiskey. We've got a projection thing for outside on the wall of the house. I don't know what channel we'll watch (god I hate news networks), so I'll probably just take a vote and get stuck with CNN. Eh, at least I've got plenty of sweet stinky weed to help me through the boring parts.

I've often thought about that. I've heard all right ins have to be recorded I would love to see that list.

I just voted. :D

Good morning my fellow Hypesters! Election Day is here and the problems at the polls calls are already coming into the newsroom. I got up early and voted before I came to work. Luckily, I got in the front of the long line so I didn't have to wait long to cast my ballot. I'll be on here off and on all day. Since I work at a t.v. station, I'll have my eyes watching all the big players, plus the local ones.

Sigh...

Making phone calls on campus at the University of Kansas (well, right next to campus technically).

Then, tonight, I party with the Douglas County Democratic Party and Abe and Jake's Landing.

Two years.

This has been the length of time I have been focusing on this presidential campaign in great detail. There have been so many surprises, so many challenges which have emerged from this campaign, that I have found myself both disenchanted and utterly infatuated with the political system. I knew this election would be like no other, I knew that this would be the one event in my lifetime which actually mattered, to me.

I have a feeling that no matter what happens tomorrow night... there will be tears flowing from my eyes. The fact that we may see the first African American elected president did not sink in until I spoke to my grandfather this evening. He hasn't voted for a Democratic presidential candidate since 1968, he is a strong Christian conservative, he used to refer to Obama as "the colored guy"... and he said he will be voting for Obama. At the age of 80, he claims that a moment like this will never be seen again in his lifetime. And to watch as history escapes him, he says, would be irresponsible.

Now, I don't advocate voting for Obama because he could be the first African American president. No, what I'm trying to say with this analogy is that tomorrow night could be a pivotal point in our nation's history. So many people I have spoken with about this subject claim that they never thought they would see the day when an African American would have a fighting chance for the presidency. And these same people were even more astounded when the Democratic nomination came down to a black man and a woman, already setting in motion a turn of events which would be historic regardless of the election's outcome. If Barack Obama is elected, history will be made. So many barriers will be shattered. The rebirth of the American dream, the adage "you can be anything if you try hard enough," will be reignited in the hearts of so many people in this country. This is not an election like 1960, or 1980. This is an election like none we have ever seen, or one we may see in the near future.

So, while so many of us are planning to get trashed tomorrow night (myself included)... be reminded that the evening may result in a historic victory and an earth-shattering event which will be written about in history books for centuries. Remember that this could be an evening you tell your children and grandchildren about some day.

In other words: Be safe, and don't do anything stupid which may affect your stake in what could be one of the most historical events in our nation's history.

I will cry if McCain wins, I must admit... but I will cry even harder if I am a part of what could be a historical moment. In fact... I'm sort of looking forward to it...

Touching...love this post. :)

I've read so many of your very interesting posts today. I've concluded that someone must've shat in your coffee this morning. Yeah, that must've been it. :whatever:

You just said you wanted to see Obama and Biden repeatedly raped by a dog. What the hell is wrong with you:huh:.

Found out someone I know got a ticket to the "Obama party" in Chicago tonight, probably the last place I'd want to be. I'm partial to Obama, just know there's going to be a huge crowd of dumbasses down there tonight.

*ignores Nitehawk's nonsense*

Anyway, I just got a dumb-ass text message from this cat I've been dealing with. :whatever: He hopes that Obama wins because he thinks that will put me in a celebratory mood to mess around with him tonight. I'm like...Dude, HISTORY will have been made tonight if Obama takes it. I'm totally gonna be too distracted to do anything but drink, laugh, and cry.

Besides, I'm gonna have a crib full of peeps.

I work downtown and today has got to be the worst day to work, especially being that I work until 12:30 am.

I can't handle large crowds, especially when they come into the store.

Hand Banana is hardly a dog. I don't know that it is really an anything. Now, the thing Carl made with his face on it...that was a dog.

Voted. 15 Minute wait, not a big line at all........
