Elijah Wood Is a 'Maniac'

wow, not sure how I feel about the first person perspective with alot of the shots but jeez, that shot when he rips the girls scalp and hair off makes this seem like it's going to be pretty violent movie. I'm not sure who this director is but he seems to have a good grasp on what they wanted to do, that's for sure.

Based on the trailer it hits the same beats as the original Maniac just in an updated version. I can't wait.

I've always liked Elijah even when he goes long stretches without really doing much of note film-wise, and I'd like to see him get more notice again for such a dark role.

Elijah seems to be getting some interesting roles lately. Starting with guest starring in Red vs. Blue this season

i hope this trailer is released soon without the end cut off. its weird that its like that right now.

Elijah Wood is the nice, next door type neighbor, that seems approriate to play a demented killer, like what he did in Sin City. He's really well suited to play such a role.

That's what I was thinking of as well. He was amazing in his role in "Sin City". Would love to see more of him doing something like that.

I'm usually against these horror remakes, but it looks like they finally got one right and I can't wait for it. When does this come out?

I cant wait for this movie I like the poster keeping with the whole p.o.v. thing.

That trailer was sick , but in a good way. I can't wait to see this.

Look great but I keep waiting for Wilfred to pop in.

There's no US date so far but it says it's coming out in Dec. 26 2012 in France.

Spinell was a great actor. (I especially liked him in Rocky and this.)
But I think Wood is an interesting casting choice and that maybe he can pull it off too.

So I finally saw this, it's a pretty good remake overall. For anyone who never saw the original this film might come as a surprise because just like the original, your view is though his eyes. The kills are violent, the opening scene is definitely retro and hopefully that will please horror fans. Although one minor complaint is that they took out the shotgun scene for the remake, it doesn't hurt the film but it's something I was expecting. The music was fantastic, if you love the Drive score you'll probably love this and the theme is gonna be memorable.

8.5/10

Just watched this, great remake! I have to say i loved the use of the camera work, the pov was really effective. I can't give enough praise to Elijah Wood, he put up an incredibly creepy performance. If you're looking for a really good horror film, check this out.

I'm generally against remakes, especially horror remakes, on principle. However, I must confess that even being a horror fan, I've never seen the original Maniac. Thus I have no preconceived notions about what the remake should be like.

I'm also a fan of Elijah Wood, especially of his portrayal of Kevin in Sin City, and as such feel he can do this role justice. I haven't seen the remake yet, but I intend to. And I'm sincerely hoping that it lives up to its hype.

That's gonna be interesting for someone who hasn't seen the original, let me know what you think of it when you see it.

I've never seen the original and I loved this. I wish it wasn't all from Frank's perspective as we would've been able to see more of Elijah's performance but this was a cool movie. He was one twisted **** for sure

Where have you guys been seeing the movie? Theaters? DVD?
