No. It's because she's got the books pretty much memorized and is 100% certain they can't adapt it.

The air battle scenes are really hard to imagine, I had to read them several times to figure out how exactly the concept should work. Or maybe I'm just stupid.

I think it's more she thinks the adaptation should be word for word, and they can't do that in a 2 hour movie.

Which is stupid. The best adaptations from books keep the spirit of the book ala Lord of the Rings. Word for word makes for very boring adaptations and sometimes miss what the book actually means.

That's what I keep telling her. She spends a lot of time insulting nerds and their passions, but say one thing about Enders Game and KABOOM. She explodes. She'll rant about Enders Game and that entire universe for an infinite amount of time.

Meh... Enders Game is just a poor man's Starship Troopers anyhow. :woot::woot:

I saw the trailer on comic book movie dot com (can't post it here) and it's weird to see Harrison in a sci-fi film that's not Blade Runner and Star Wars. That's a good thing. I swear, I think either he turned a new leaf OR he got a new agent. Especially after his casting in Anchorman 2..

Interesting, if anything it just gets me more excited to see Ford return as Han.

Trailer looks pretty sick! Its been a while since I read the book...who is Ben Kingsley playing? I don't remember a character with face tattoos

I forgot how good of a cast they wrangled for this thing.

good trailer.

someone is hoping for twilight money. good luck.....you will need it

I'm surprised they didn't throw Chloe Moretz in there to complete the teenage acting phenom chick trifecta.

My friend, the Ender's fanatic, saw the trailer. She was enraged. She said that she finally has proof they messed up the film. Has anyone else here read the books and could tell me what it is that is inspiring such rabid stupidity? Is this somehow grossly inaccurate to the books?

She is probably upset about the age. Ender is like a 7 year old in the book, he is only accepted to the advanced military school because he is literally one of the smartest kids on the planet. Although the character ages slowly through out the book and by the end of it he is in his teens. I don't see how else they could approach the film though, it would be unrealistic to hire a bunch of different actors to play Ender or take 10 years of filming just to get the aging right.

Did anyone read the book? :o

...nevermind, apparently he is Mazer. I don't know why they gave him face tattoos though. I don't know if that was in the book.

They weren't getting a kid younger than 11-12 for this. Really young kids in lead roles are only for indie flicks.

Yeah she told me about the age thing, and I told her it doesn't make any ****ing sense to have a 7 year old kid and on and on. She doesn't understand adaptation. Maybe being a comic book fan, and seeing all the liberties taken over the years with my favorites has softened me to it, but I don't see the big deal. Changes have to be made for properties to work on screen.

Ask if she'd be cool with DDL mo-capping a 7 year old.

I'm pretty sure that's the avenue she'd want them to take. And then she'd complain about that. She's built the entire Ender's universe in her head, so any deviation of the world she see's in her mind will be an abomination.
