Entertainment Weekly interviews Ray Stevenson!

[blackout]He kills a good guy, eh?[/blackout]

Interesting.

I thought you were one of the few who have read the script.

It was in some of the first bits of info regarding the story that was released.

Ray seems very knowlegable of the comics, he seems to like The Punihser very much. He is a very nice guy too.

I'm really liking Ray Stevenson. A question about the Lexi situation probably would have killed his pretty jolly, receptive demeanor, but would have been nice.

A good interview, all in all. Good to see Ray's taking the Punisher seriously. Lets hope that translates to a good film!

Thanks Joe nice find:up::up:great interview and it proves that Ray love the character and did alot studying too.:unishr:

And didn't he also say that he was around in the late 60's?

Kable24, He did...however The Punisher was introduced in 1974, so he wasn't That far off.

I wouldnt challenge his knowledge. Thats dumb, if I saw him on the street I'd just tell him how much he looks like MAX and out of respect for him try to avoid discussing how much this film is not MAX.

[edit]

Hey, could he at least be nominated for a James Bond part?

He needs to get it right. I'm sorry because an actor spouts of "MAX" a few times doesn't mean he's a huge fan. He probably has a publicist who did the research for him and messed up the date the Punisher debuted and other tidbits.
And yes I know the Punisher debuted in February 1974. I happen to have an original Amazing Spider-Man #129.

^^ it's not required for Stevenson to be a walking Punisher dictionary. He doesn't need to 'get it right' on every single fact about the character.

I doubt that even Hugh jackman knows every single thing about Wolvie...or Bale about batman.

I've been reading the Punisher since the early 90's...and even i don't know the exact year the punisher character made his 1st appearance...i never even read that Spiderman issue.

I guess what happened was Ray probably read the max issues ONCE in preparation for the role. And he probably did a litlle bit of research...for five mnutes orso.

As long as it does helped him prepared for the role, that's good enough for me.I don't need him to be a punisher geek.

Then don't pretend to be an expert. I would have more respect for an actor taking the role saying, "Yeah, I flipped through a few issues here and there and read some about him on the internet, but I am far from an expert." Than being a pretender.

What? Just because he got wrong when the Punisher first came out? He's an actor, he's more concerned about who the character is as a person and what goes on in his head. Not what hear his first appearance was in comics.

If its that big of a deal then just walk up to him on the streets and correct him.

I just made a comment about him saying the wrong date. I'm just tired of actors pretending to be huge fans of a character they are playing when the only time they heard of the character is when they got the part.

Fanboys will swallow anything they tell them. lexi has passion for the Punisher MAX line. MAX this and MAX that. yeah so much passion that it's a huge steaming pile of crap on celluloid.

I agree:)Bale is great Batman but you can tell he only looked at couple of issues.:(And Jackman loves Wolverine that doesn't mean he read 1,000 Wolvie comics to know the character better.I'm just glad they did the research to understand the characters:):word::unishr:PS He was kinda right,Frank family got killed in 1976 Frank was in mid 30s or early 30s.So he would be turning 60:word:

Bale has admitted to not being a fan of comic books. I can respect that because he is honest about it and doesn't spout off where Jim Lee's art is what inspired him to don the cap and cowl.

Now if Ray stated that fractions run on War Journal is what motivates him then I would yell for his head on a stick!!

Lets give them a break,if this a contest on who know the characters more we can kick all their asses:)And did you heard that Jason Statham wants to play DareDevil and Frank Miller agrees that he should play the part?:unishr:
