Explosions and gunfire in Paris

Hard to imagine something like this happening in a major US or European city, but it's possible now. Usually it's a one shot attempt with a bomb or what not, but we have an entire organized cell as culprits here. I really don't know how this is even possible. How can they continue to recruit people at this rate? Where are they getting their crop? It can't just be young boys that grew up in war torn Iraq and Syria. These had to be French nationals or European nationals at the very least. Is the European economy that bad that people have to resort to radicalism to end their miserable existence? This is really a new level of terrorism we haven't seen in modern history.

These radical strains of Islam have millions of sympathizers.

It's a fallacy to think they have to recruit people from broken homes or destitute communities. The underwear bomber, and Osama Bin Laden come to mind.

I think going after the people who are supporter of ISIS or hate the West would be a way to prevent future attack but then we go into civil liberties territory where you should have no right to spy on citizens

You need to cut the head off the snake and that means getting the Saudis, Turks, and Egypt to go in there and finish the job themselves. You need a swift coalition of Muslim nations to eliminate the problem, and if they can't or refuse, embargo them until they mobilize their forces. The problem is the US and the west is in bed with the Saudis and the royal family are laughing their asses to the bank. The ISIS problem makes them richer.

How hard is it to kill 40,000 people?

Yes, the Sunni Arabs should deal with this, but they won't. Only Jordan and the UAE seem to be taking this seriously.

We're going to have to do it.

Number of guys has been bumped from 5 to 8.

Given these guys want to be killed that's unlikely.

Still seems rather low. But they probably had accomplices who long fled.

The 8 are the ones they've gotten, based on what I've heard. I doubt they are going to announce if they have them all.

This brings back the terrible memories of 9/11. Such a terrible and tragic event, with over a hundred innocent lives lost. Thoughts and prayers to the families who are affected by this tragedy.

this is just so insanely tragic man!! feel for the victims and Paris!

Glad to see Paris and France receiving support and love from all over the world.

153 killed and over 200 wounded.
No words..

I'm glad to hear all my various family members who live in paris are doing okay. This is is a pretty horrible attack, especially considering the number of targets hit.

Horrific news. Thoughts go out to the people of Paris.

A comment on facebook
"Those motherf***ers touched a sacred thing to me and to hundreds like me who found a safe place in music.
The death of those people is unacceptable.
Unacceptable.
Motherf***ers.
Bastards.

You don't touch people enjoying life. You don't take life away from people."

Reports saying attack may have been ISIS inspired, but not committed by ISIS, so it's entirely possible the attackers were local nut jobs with no affiliation with the organisation. This is the problem that nations are now going to find themselves in, how do you counter an inspiration? It's one thing to bomb a ground force, but there's only so much you can do to prevent lone wolf attacks within your own borders.

Terrible news... Lives mustn't be taken away like that... Love and support to all the people out there.

One of the biggest reliefs I've ever felt in my life is a Parisian friend dropping me a line to say he was at home while all this was happening. He's understandably terrified.
