Thing is, I don't hate anyone...but to see those people bash the people who are trying to get away from their own country so they can get on with their lives is just terrible. I agree with what a lot are saying about the refugees...only accept children, women and the elderly. Cause of right now, no matter where you are, where you live, no one is safe...this planet isn't a safe haven anymore. It never was to begin with.

I feel I ranted too long...so forgive me. I come from Canada. So...just my thoughts.

Women and children aren't exempt from causing a lot of harm. To stereotype in this situation is, in my opinion, dangerous. Let's try a full vetting process and worry less about gender and age.

If your question was "What do you specifically mean by that?" I could have articulated it. "What?" doesn't really give me any direction to go on, other than you didn't get as much information from my statement as you wanted.

yes, I could've asked a longer question, but you did take a direction when you replied with "exactly". You didn't like you were confused by what I said. And quite frankly I feel like when someone does respond with just a "what?" - the common interpretation is that they didn't understand what was said.

Hafiz....my heart goes out to you and anyone else struggling in your situation. It is so important to understand that tearing us apart and creating social unrest is precisely what ISIS wants, which is why it is more important now than ever to unite and not play into their hands.

ISIS flat out wants to dive Muslims and non-Muslims and usher in an age of darkness and war...the notion of this is both laughable in its sheer stupidity yet something we must take seriously. We must remain vigilant and not be manipulated into playing into their nihilistic world view.

This is not to say I think we should open our shores to 10,000 refugees. Security has to come first, IMO, and if we can't properly vet the refugees then it's too great a risk to potentially allow this seed of evil to spread into our country. There is too much at stake right now.

But as for assimilated, moderate American Muslims like yourself? Just try not to pay the idiots too much attention, and be strong. We all have to be right now. Transparency, like you've stated, certainly can't hurt. The more trust we can build will only strengthen our society. And just know that there are millions of non-Muslim Americans that are standing with you in this fight against ISIS.

Hafiz, I'm a white non muslim french guy, but I understand what you suffer. Stats never lies. In France, 5000 people are probably salafist / have a link to either Al Qaida or ISIS, and 5 millions muslim live in France (on 67 millions people living in the country). 0,1 % of french muslims are pro ISIS... So 99,9% of them have nothing to do with these criminals, and are the victims the actions of this ridiculously small and non representative minority.

Thank you for the link. As others have said, don't listen to the idiots and bigots. Any time you have a large enough group, you are going to find some crazy people. Most of us believe that everyone has the right to worship (or not) as they wish without repercussions.

If US withdraw all their grounds troops as planned next year, what happened in Iraq could befall Afghanistan.

I read the article. His point, lost in a badly made and meandering rant, is that slacktivisim isn't enough and the younger gen should do more than just sit behind hash tags and updated facebook profiles. A fair enough point IMO.

Although what he's actually trying to say is that there will be an upcoming band aid/live aid with Bono. Stay tuned
