Hey all i recently just got a 1tb wd my passport external hard drive. I wanted to use it to save video files off my pc and play them on my ps3. So problem is this i transfered the files to the drive. But when i plugged it into the ps3 nothing happened no tabs showing the drive appeared in video/music/pictures/etc..... tabs in the ps3 main menu.

So i was wondering if any one can help me to get this to work. All i know right now the drive was formated in ntfs format. And i read for what ever reason ps3 do not read that format but does read fat32. But when i go into format tab for the drive it only has option for ntfs and exfat. And exfat from what i googled wont work on ps3. So if any one can help me out that be great.

NTFS-formatted hard drives won't work on PS3/PS4 because that's a Microsoft proprietary file system and, well, Sony obviously can't use it.

Bear in mind that FAT32 has limitations such as not being able to support files bigger than 4GB (so if your videos are bigger than that, you're **** out of luck). Also, I don't think you can format a 1TB HDD in FAT32; you'll have to create smaller partitions like 2x500GB.
