Xbox Fable Legends

Yeah I can't find it and haven't heard anything recently. Was supposed to be Q4 2015 I thought.

yeah. they've been strangely quiet about this game recently, especially considering they touted it as part of their "Greatest Lineup" for this Holiday.

Article says if you dont have an xbox you need a Windows 10 PC. I hate Windows 10.

It's an Xbox exclusive so the Windows thing is a bonus if anything. No reason to expect to play it anywhere else.

They're demo( they say beta but mean demo)

Microsoft and Lionhead Studios have delayed the Fable Legends open beta from its planned fall 2015 release window to spring 2016.

Additionally, Lionhead Studios will invite an additional 100,000 players to the Fable Legends closed beta over the next few weeks. Sign-ups are available at FableLegends.com.

“We’ve decided to extend our closed beta to continue to listen to feedback from our players and add features and polish that will make a real difference,” Lionhead said in a blog post. “This means Fable Legends won’t release into open beta this holiday as previously announced.

“To be honest, we didn’t anticipate just how big Fable Legends is becoming. It’s simply the most ambitious game we’ve ever created at Lionhead. We’ve built a unique and innovative multiplayer experience combining RPG and RTS gameplay which allows you to play, and use your gear seamlessly, across Xbox One and Windows 10. On top of this, we’ve built a beautiful new world full of grand stories and adventures. And it’s taking more time than we thought.”

Doing a free MMO was a terrible idea from the start. Games like these are dropping like flies and bleeding money. Not to mention the IP itself was quite tarnished after several mediocre games. They should have just done Fable 4 with high production values and a great story, and the series might have been saved. The whole MMO angle apparently killed the whole studio as it is.

Not only have they canceled this, it seems they've completely shut down Lionhead Studios. Very strange and very out of nowhere move.

Wait, this was a MMO?

This game was practically done, wasn't it? Seems like an uber waste of money to not even release a finished game.

Fable Legends cancelled, Lionhead Studios "in discussions" to close

Legendary British developer Lionhead Studios' latest game, Fable Legends, has been officially cancelled, and owners Microsoft are currently...Read more

^^

The post
continues, "These have been tough decisions and we have not made them lightly, nor are they a reflection on these development teams – we are incredibly fortunate to have the talent, creativity and commitment of the people at these studios" and goes on to say that "These changes are taking effect as Microsoft Studios continues to focus its investment and development on the games and franchises that fans find most exciting and want to play."

To read between the lines a bit, basically both studios weren't creating products enough people were interested in, and Microsoft don't believe they will be able to in the near future. I would guess that the "in discussions about the proposed closure" line means that Microsoft are considering selling or otherwise moving the studio on, depending on those talks, but I'm no business expert. As for those left behind, Lemke says that Microsoft will help them to secure jobs elsewhere:

"We have nothing but heart-felt thanks for the members of Lionhead and Press Play for their contributions to Xbox and gaming. We are committed to working closely with those affected by today’s news to find them new opportunities at Xbox, or partnering with the broader development community to help place them in jobs elsewhere in the games industry should they desire."

Good luck to those affected, and sorry if you were looking forward to Fable Legends - or any new Fable games, at least in the near-term.

technically we saw game play of early levels. We don't know what they were adding or truly how far along they really were.

I thought the game was in public beta? Usually that means the game is fairly close to being done.

Ah can't believe it. Was really looking forward to this. :csad:

The studio itself is still closed, though. They basically just reshuffled all the employees within other studios and such. It's good that means less jobs lost, but in the end, Lionhead is still dead. It's just weird. I wonder if something else happened, or was happening, behind the scenes, because for them to just flat out close a studio near the end of a development cycle of a title without at least finishing it seems like there's something up.

^ yeah. especially when Fable Legends was so prominently featured in their "Jump Ahead" and "Greatest Lineup of Games" promos last year.

Rumor: Lionhead staff being surveyed about continuing Fable Legends development

Published 12 hours ago. 6 comments.

The cancelled Xbox One and PC game may live on.

Fable Legends, which was cancelled last month alongside the closure of Lionhead Studios, might yet be saved, according to MCV.
Speaking to the website, sources at Lionhead Studios said that staff are being surveyed as to whether they would like to continue working on Fable Legends or accept the redundancy package offered to them and leave at the end of April.

While the majority of freelancers working on Fable Legends have already left the studio, those on contracts are still employed by Lionhead Studios until its closure.

Fable Legends was in development for Xbox One and PC.

hope they can save and finish the game.

They have to, what a waste of time otherwise!

Where would you like it to go?

[FONT=&quot]After Microsoft canceled Fable Legends and closed down developer Lionhead Studios, we all assumed it was the last we'd hear of the Fable series. But that may not be the case anymore.
There's no hard evidence, but Xbox head honcho Phil Spencer shed some light on the series' future. Answering questions on Twitter, he stated that the franchise "has a lot of places it could go" but that there was "nothing to announce right now."

@XboxP3 Phil will we ever get a fable 4? The original fable played a big part for me in my life earlier when I owned a xbox

This could very well mean the return of the series, or at the very least, it shows that Microsoft hasn't completely abandoned the idea.
Fable 3 was released in 2010, a whopping 7 years ago on the Xbox 360. Since then, spin-off titles Fable Heroes and Fable: The Journey released to nothing really positive to note. Fable Legends was to be an online co-op multiplayer game before it was canceled.
In other Fable news, ex-series creator Peter Molyneux is working on a new title with his new studio 22Cans.

He will be working with VR.

[FONT=&quot]Lionhead Studios has officially been shut down for over a year now. The studio was best known for Fable and was allegedly closed down over Microsoft's unwillingness to sell the franchise. Whatever the reason for the studio's closure, there's hope for the franchise yet - as well as the folks who once worked on it.
Stuart Whyte, the former studio director at Lionhead, has found a new position with PlayStation. Next week, Whyte will be starting his new position at Sony's London Studio as the director of VR product development. Sony's London Studio is best known for experimental projects, such as SingStar, EyePet, Wonderbook and The Playroom and their VR efforts, like PlayStation VR Worlds.
"I'm super excited to be joining the London team to lead them further on their journey to becoming the world's leading AAA, VR Team," Whyte told GamesIndustry.biz.
Prior to his new position with Sony, Whyte held various positions at Lionhead, including operations director, head of production, and executive producer. He worked with Xbox as the chief publishing officer, as well as held a number of senior roles at other game studios.
