Face/Off Remake

The original was so bonkers and feels so much like a film of its time. I don't know if anything could really match it today.

Another unnecessary remake from Hollywood because Face Off is a great movie with bullcrap science.
Great movies shouldn't get remade by Hollywood including Jaws.

Hollywood should remake movies that could be good or great if executed right such as The Guyver a faithful Rated R adaptation that is released to Theaters, Fist of the North Star a big budget faithful adaptation with the trademark vicious violence, Ghost Rider a serious Rated R Supernatural Horror Action movie with practical efforts for Blackheart's demon appearance that gets used for most of the movie, Double Dragon a faithful adaptation based on the 1st Arcade game and could show other information not shown in the arcade game including how Billy and Jimmy become Martial Arts Warriors, why they got involved in Martial Arts, how New York City become post apocalyptic, etc, Doom a faithful adaptation with Demons released to theaters, etc.

Now with Wingard as director, I kind of hope this is actually the sequel to Godzilla vs Kong where Godzilla and Kong switch faces.

:funny:

Now I want Godzilla's face on Kong's body and Kong's face on Godzilla's body, nothing else changed about them at all, but have everyone act earnestly oblivious that they're face-swapped.

The original works because it has terrific performances from both leads ( and supporting cast), who really seemed to be enjoying themselves and the complete madness of John Woo 's action scenes.

The ridiculous concept of face swapping is pretty easy to get past once the action starts.

I hope they don't remake this film, in part because Cage and Travolta brought something special, but also because John Woo's directing style made it what it was. I mean, would you try and remake Robocop without Paul Verhoeven ? Because that would be crap .....oh wait.

Once

There is 2 ways:
1. Female version - Charlize Theron vs. Kate Beckinsale.
2. Muscle version - Michael B. Jordan vs. Taylor Kitsch.

I'd actually be down to see Adam Wingard's take on somekind of face/body swapping film that was inspired by Face/Off, but was more in the vein of his films like You're Next or The Guest.

Add in some horror elements and I can definitely see the potenital, but I know thats not what we are going to get which makes it far less interesting IMO. They can call it a sequel as much as they want, but like most of these reboots nowadsys its likely just going to be another remake.

Got some clarity on Adam Wingard’s plans for Face/Off. He is approaching the film as a sequel to the original hit film, as opposed to a remake as I had been told when I broke the story. But I believe the leads will be re-cast.

So sequel only for one character to say, "30 years ago, two men switched faces. Now it's your turn."

Now I'm interested.

They can't really bring back Cage, can they?

I bet they come up with some dumb science body swap machine where they don’t physically swap faces but transfer their soul or something similar. Don’t get me wrong, the original concept of surgical procedure was outlandish too but at least that had a fun element to it.

No, just no. 'Tis all.

Dude...

It's not really a "classic" and I say that as someone that loves it.

It's a very good example of something... Really dumb. It's a well done dumb action film but it's still INCREDIBLY DUMB.

And it's not the seemingly obvious... It's NOT the concept. The conceit behind the story is pretty good, the switching of faces and lives.

But God bless Woo, he wasn't interested in anything deep he just wanted an excuse to blow stuff up real good... And he did and it's a hell of a ride.

But it isn't sacrosanct really, now is it?
