Face/Off Remake

It's a crazy ass 90s movie with John Woo at his peak, Travolta at his peak crazy villain, and Cage in one of his last major roles before doing straight to video schlock.

It's like when they re-made Total Recall with Colin Farrell. It was shinier and sleeker, but nowhere near as fun to watch.

I'll give it a chance because I'm a fan of Wingard.

Yeah I don’t think you can really remake this or do the “25 years later sequel” thing. The movie was awesome but it was a product of its time.

This will be an overly serious take on the material which will just make it bland. Think Total Recall. Woo's over the top directing and the two leads really gave a new depth to it. There was an ideal balance to the absurd and the serious. It's a very interesting take but this will be played so ****ing straight.

That's exactly what I thought at first... it will be serious, going into the darker, glitter realistic world of it all.. the failed grafts, the medication, infection, the pyschological take to it.

Like a blumberg version where it's more a horror movie of the man's mind. The fact it doesn't look clean, a perfect fit, how it confuses those around the two main characters who suspect something.. then I heard it's a sequel... I wonder where that will go...

They can do it digitally where they deep fake a celeb. I dunno, I just don't see where or why for this

Maybe Nicholas Cage can swap faces with Travolta's daughter this time or his wife.

That has got to be the most unintentionally funny headline ever. As if either of those two would ever turn down something based on the script.
It's nice to see John embrace the bald life.

I'd hardly call it one of Cage's last major roles. He was still able to land some prestigious work for years after Face/Off. Adaptation for one, which came out in 2002.

A sequel to this sounds idiotic. What are they going to do, say they put Castor Troy in suspended animation?

Don't forget National Treasure 1 and 2 and even Ghost Rider. That was probably the end to his mainstream leading man career.

And this will work because it must. :argh:

Kick-Ass as well which was moderately successful and did fairly well critically, so not quite.

I thought this was just going to be a case of taking the concept technology from the original and fitting it to new characters.

If the recent legacy sequels (Bill & Ted, Coming 2 America, Dumb and Dumber To) have taught me anything, the plot will involve Caster and Archer’s illegitimate children

Played by John Travolta and Nicolas Cage de-aged.

'Godzilla vs. Kong' Director Adam Wingard on Staging Monster Battles - Variety

Your next movie, a reboot of “Face/Off,” is also about a major confrontation. Will you apply any lessons from “Godzilla vs. Kong” when you make the film?
They’re so different. “Godzilla vs. Kong” is about two icons pairing off against each other. The “Face/Off” story that I’m telling is much more of a family story. But I’m sure the experience of making this movie will make “Face/Off” more of an epic movie. I have the knowledge now of how to make a really big, thrilling movie, which will play into it.

Face/Off meets Demolition Man? With Cage and Travolta returning? With Cage and Travolta singing the Oscar Meyer Weiner Song during a gun fight? WITH CAGE AND TRAVOLTA TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE THREE SEASHELLS?
