I've always liked Thompson...I'd consider voting for him. Depends on what his stance is on key issues.
lets not forget:
Ronald Reagan: Cali. Governor, and President of the US
Sunny Bono: Congressman from Cali.
nah, Thompson has a personality...and a sense of humor.

I'll use the Matt argument on this guy:
Sure he's charismatic, but we don't know how he stands on the issues and he's only got a couple of terms as a Senator under his belt. He's not qualified. Maybe in a few years, after he's more experienced.

As a Rudy guy, the idea of Frank Thompson running is very scary. The guy has a personality and has few flaws to him. He will easily take Romney's support and probably McCain as well. His conservative domestic values are too likely to swing many of the "National Defense First" members of Rudy's camp to his as well.
Umm, I think ten years in the senate is a little more than Obama's 3. Though I almost certainly wouldn't vote for Thompson.
This isn't Regan, some washed up television actor isn't going to win.
