I dont know why people are suprised at Repaer being good. Anything Luda Champions wins...:). Chuck aint too bad either.

I'm thinking of scratching Heroes off my intrest list , I might give it a couple of more episodes but I think I'll check for Season 2 when its on DVD when its done like I do with Smallville. It moves too slow and not as good as its fans make it out to be. As a matter of fact I'm expecting the same backlash Lost got midway in Season 2 here as well. Didnt the only semi decent writer on the show bounce to make another series?

Anyways ftw:

Friday Night Lights
House
The Office
Chuck
Reaper
Aliens in America
30 Rock
Everybody Hates Chris
Scrubs
Smallville

Honestly though can Summer 2008 get here sooner so the final season of HBO's The Wire can shank, shoot and straight up murder every single tv show out there?

Did you really expect a CBS show to be all that funny?

I said I figured it'd be pretty bad, just didn't know how bad. I do watch and like How I Met Your Mother, it kind of grew on me last season, plus it was the perfect amount of time to waste so I didn't have to watch commercials for Prison Break or Heroes.

What was wrong with Heroes, I thought it was a great episode, laying the groundwork for the season, letting you know where the characters were now, setting up big bads and storylines, the hour moves too fast for me. It's definitely better than the cliche riddled Friday Night Lights,

Friday Night Lights is good but it isnt cliched, get the season 1 set. It speaks more on smalltown america's obession with amuteur sports. I like it cause it builds on the premise of the book and movie its based on.
Heroes on the other hand to me is cliched as **** and keeps on jacking ideas (4400, Lost, X-Men). As a regular genre show its ok but it hardly warrants the love it gets. Pretty much the same old same stuff you get with other genre shows. Dania Rameirz is dope but lol@ the mexican Wonder Twins...Like I said, you watch people will turn on the show by like Feb like they did with Lost.

Are you really trying to say Friday Night Lights is something original? It jacks ideas from just about all kinds of sports and teen movies and used just about every cliche in the book. I did watch the first season when it was on and was mystified at the rave reviews it recieved. I never saw it as any thing more than a standard, run of the mill, sports or teen movie expanded from 2 hours to 22.

Saw the pilot, thought it was kinda boring too...I dont know. I think I'm being harsh on genre TV cause its still better than how it use to be but, its just not intresting. I'll check out BW though for a bit see how it goes..

All shows jack ideas (Heroes being the worst) but one of the reasons why I (and the reviewers I guess) like it is because its not really about the football itself and its not really centralised on the kids even, its more about the dynamic and obsession this country has with football for escapsim especially in small town middle america (Texas). Might be cliched but its fact and they dont really glamourise it at all, in fact it always has the grey bleak feel to it.
I like that the characters have a mutliple number of choices and problems and there pretty well written.
It works for me

You did. But you can catch a replay of the pilot following thursday's Smallville premiere.

I was surprise with how well done Reaper was! :wow:

It's easily the best episode of scripted TV I've seen so far this season.

Cool, thanks.

Day 3 of the unofficial premiere week was kickin'. Kid Nation was awesome AGAIN, Criminal Minds was :wow: :wow:, and I've still got Bionic Woman to watch after work today before tonight's MEGA-lineup!

I have a question: "Life" vs "Life is Wild". Which show will have the shortest "life" if any "life" at all?

I've never even heard of "Life is Wild", but if it's on an obscure cable channel, it may outlast NBC's show.

Life is Wild is on The CW. It's suppose to be about a American family that moves to Africa.

Here's what i've gathered so far...
Gossip Girl- girls were very hot and the story was fair, but not enough to keep me watching
Chuck- Amazing
Reaper- Double amazing
Bionic Woman- A bit disappointing, but it may pick up speed.
Private Practice- Pretty boring.
Dirty Sexy Money- Shockingly good. I was really surprised that I kept watching, and enjoying, it. Its like a more serious Arrested development.

The only thing left to check out is Pushing Daisies, but I dont know if I'll get into it. It just looks too quirky and romancy.

**high-pitched kid voice**

"Ewwwww, romancy!!"

Not that I have anything against romance in a show, but the whole "I love her, but I cant touch her. Boohoo" thing might get old by about episode 4.

Dirty Sexy Money was great, really took me by surprise. Bionic Woman was decent, I think it could get better with upcoming episodes.

Well, last night's slate was solid, if not uneventful....I guess what I'm trying to say is that with all of the fresh new shows finding ways to tickle my senses and add excitement to my day, last night just felt like a retread of oldies. And most of them weren't even the best episodes of their respective series. They were all just mildly entertaining. And just so we can crucify their inability to really zing me to the moon, I'll list them again.

Smallville, CSI, Survivor, The Office, & Grey's Anatomy....and I haven't even watched My Name Is Earl yet, but I read a similarly mediocre review yesterday.

Of the new series that have started I have seen:
Gossip Girl - Guilty pleasure. Just a replacement for The O.C. Might give it the boot if my interest wanes any more. Plus it has Kristen Bell (even if she's only the narrator).
Reaper - Hilariously funny.

Going to try and give Bionic Woman a go when it hits the screens in Australia (in a couple of days). I wanna watch Chuck seeing as everyone is raving about it. As for Pushing Daisies I'm already sold on that seeing that it's from the guy that made Wonderfalls and Dead Like Me.

I finally caught some more shows on my dvr this weekend. Saturday evening I watched the one hour premiere of My Name Is Earl. Is was okay, just like the show, I guess. Entertaining and creative without being overly funny. j

Next, we watched the pilot for 'Chuck'. It was pretty good. But I expected as much, seeing as how it received glowing reviews from critics and friends alike. The episode itself felt like an expanded version of all the promos that have been on TV. I'd seen nearly every joke & action sequence already, just out of order. So that took a little away from it. But I will definitely be adding it to my "Monday" list of shows. I think it's a worthy addition for now.

Finally, surprise surprise, last night I decided at random to watch the season premiere of King of the Hill (I know, they still make new ones??) after a bloaded day of football. Boy, was I in for a treat! It was SOOO funny. I hate to jump on the cult following's parade, but I'm going to say it: KOTH is vastly underrated! I was lovin' every second.

...So following King's momentum, I decided to tune into Family Guy directly after, and let me tell you, I was in STITCHES!!! The episode had some wicked manatee humour in it, and it made like Kelly McGuilles and took my breathe away.

TV is good.

So after seeing a large handful of new shows, and reading reactions from people about the rest, I can easily say that I think this might be the best year for new shows since the landmark crop that started in the Fall of 2001. That's when we were treated to the well-coveted series' Alias, 24, Smallville, and The Shield....ALL series I followed faithfully, even during their respective bad periods.

Out of all the new shows, I can only think of 1 or 2 that could be cancelled. Which is really good.
