Fanboy Orgasm on Smallville??

Sorry, but just how is this a fanboy orgasm?

Its difficult enough to believe a Justice League forming this early, but Ollie wanting to form it? Thats a complete departure from his character. He would be the last who would want to be associated with something like this and he had to be coerced to join.

Are you sure this is what they were refering to as the 'fanboy orgasm'?

I'm hoping he isnt handled like an Adam Knight-like character and to cause drama with Lana.

Are you sure it said Oliver Queen and not Martian Manhunter? It seems more like MM to want to form the League.

Yep, deifinitely said Ollie Queen. His reasoning is something along te lines of "Wanting to get like-minded (and powered) individuals together"

Uh-oh. I dont like the sound of that. With the rights to Wonder Woman, Batman, Flash, Superman, Shazam and possibly Green Lantern tied up...

I hope these individuals arent Kryptonite Freaks.

Anyway, I guess they changed the Oliver Queen character, I guess we'll see how it pans out.

NO BRUCE WAYNE, keep him the hell out of my show!

Justin Hurtley "Aquaman" is playing him.

BTW, Tom Welling looks very Superman-ish on that cover! I like how they made his eyes blue, sick!!

I believe in this because I asked DeKnight if they would use Ollie since they can't use Bruce and he asked if I had spies in the writer's room...
I wouldn't count out Martian Man Hunter yet, after we did have 2 super-hero episodes last season.

Sounds awesome. Glad they found a good use for him.

Hi Kane.....

Shouldnt Queen still be stranded on the Island, like they hinted at in the Smallville pilot episode?

Here's K-Site's write up:
Green Arrow Comes To Smallville!
TV Guide's July 24 edition, now arriving in subscriber mailboxes with a nifty Tom Welling cover, has a BIG scoop -- that the DC Comics character of Oliver Queen, better known to fans as Green Arrow, will be making an appearance in Smallville for a story arc that will go for "at least seven episodes."

"He will start to form the nascent Justice League," Smallville executive producer Alfred Gough tells TV Guide in this week's issue. "He's trying to find like-minded people with special powers and put a more formal structure in place."

The article goes on to say that Clark will initially be wary of Green Arrow, much like he was when future characters such as the Flash or Aquaman showed up in previous seasons. "Ultimately Clark will see the value of what he is trying to do," Gough says. "But as he's gotten older, Clark has become more cautious. He will always be there to help out, but he doesn't want to be part of a formalized organization."

Just as big as the announcement of the character is the casting - Justin Hartley, who played the role of AC/Aquaman in Millar & Gough's Aquaman pilot will be playing the role of Ollie.

The article says that Hartley was quickly offered the Smallville gig. "What really appealed to us is that he has a great combination of sexiness and humor," Gough says.

TV Guide does not reveal when Oliver will first appear on the show, though here at KryptonSite, we are hearing that he may show up as early as the season's second episode, "Sneeze." (Visit the KryptonSite spoilers page for more about the new season!)

TV Guide also reveals that Lois Lane will take a romantic interest in the emerald archer.

Also in this week's article is one of the first print mentions of Aaron Ashmore's casting as Jimmy Olsen, who will be a recurring guest star. "In our first episode back, they reconnect," Gough says. "And so Chloe Sullivan finally gets a boyfriend."

Well that refrence was in the begining of the pilot where it took place when Lex and Clark are around the ages of 3-6 years old and look how old they are now. I doubt he was stuck in the island for that long. He probably was rescued like 10 years later or something before or sometime after clark entered high school (1st season) or someting. Then again I can probably be totally wrong. Just my two cents! :o

What reference?
In the pilot of the television series Smallville, a headline is visible on a newspaper stating "QUEEN INDUSTRIES CEO MISSING," an obvious reference to Green Arrow. Lionel Luthor is shown reading this paper in a helicopter with his son Lex Luthor during the sequence, just before Smallville's 1989 meteor shower. I got this from Wikipedia! :)

And for Seven freakin' episodes! :D :D :D :D

Sounds interesting....

But, I wanted Batman!!!

Still hoping that we see Gene Hackman, which might be towards the end of the season, due to "the rise of Lex Luthor" theme. Christopher Reeve has also guest stared and has played an important role in teaching Clark about his origins. Perhaps, Hackman can teach Lex a couple of things about being an evil mastermind?

The Green Arrow is the second-best thing, if you ask me, since Ollie is so much like Bruce in many, many ways...and almost better, in that there will probably be many, many less restrictions on GA than on (an extremely hypothetical) BW guest spot. I'm most excited over the fact that there's going to be a seven-episode arc with Ollie! :D

It'd be nice to see Gene Hackman, but I doubt he'll ever guest star on the show. He seems outside of the budget range.

HOORAY FOR STORY ARCS instead of stand alone fillers.

I don't know what I think about this. On the one hand, it's cool they're bringing in another DC hero. On the other hand, it sure sounds like a re-do of "Aqua." I.e., Clark's distrust, fling w/ Lois (Seriously, does Lois have to fall in love with Ollie too?!), they even got Aquaman to play him!

It's also weird that they're making GA the one who's all about forming an organization and Clark being reluctant. Whereas, usually, it's the other way around (JLU season one premiere?)

One more thing: Green Arrow isn't powered. He's essentially like Batman in that he's a self-made hero w/ a lot of money (I wonder if they'll reference Queen Industries? It was in the Pilot.)

I dunno. I'm wary, but interested in how it'll pan out. We'll see. These guys have had a good track record so I'll give them the BotD.

Just caught that. Skimmed through it. This should be really cool then, and perhaps during this time period we will see the Aquaman PILOT during one of the usual "break weeks" (where a repeat would have been). Because I still believe that the CW is "testing the waters" with Aquaman, but I doubt they would admit this to the public- 'yes, we lost faith in the show for a while but due to the overwhelming internet reaction from a leaked trailer we're going to wait and see what it does'. It's also a good way to keep Hartley on a contract with the CW and give him a 'trial-run' similarly to how Jensen Ackles was in Smallville before moving on to Supernatural.

So, yeah- I'm excited. But, always wanted Bruce Wayne. : )

Not necessarily, I think he might do it for the heck of it- one episode.... less money.... etc. But, that would depend on how he likes the show- which I haven't heard his thoughts on it yet. Usually for many actors it isn't the money, it's the role offered and their interest in the role. Pay checks range for many actors from really really independant films, to independant films and to films typically- so I don't think there is always a fixed amount.

Me too. But I'm majorly excited over what we've got. I thought one-episode character intro, but seven. freakin. episodes! :D :D

You're right about actors not having a fixed paycheck. Maybe the "budget range" isn't the biggest factor of why I don't think he'll be on the show. It was just a feeling I have regarding Mr. Hackman--he hasn't expressed any interest in the show, and I haven't seen much in the way of rumors about him. I get the feeling that he doesn't have the desire to do a guest spot.

On the other hand, I'd go bonkers if John Shea guest-starred on the show. His Lex was more unabashedly evil, anyway. ;)
