Fandango buys Rotten Tomatoes

Definitely a bad thing for Rotten Tomatoes.

It was the most useful tool of finding out the critical consensus. Now I'm going to likely have to use Metacritic.

Rotten Tomatoes is by no means perfect but it was nice having an aggregate place for all reviews.

Plus it was always nice watching fanboys flip out at the first critic who put a bad review for the latest superhero movie.

What's wrong with Metacritic? It's been my go-to over Rotten Tomatoes for more than a decade.

Most of the movies with over 80% on RT are truly good.

Most of the movies with under 50% are truly bad.

I consider that a useful tool in my book.

I don't get the RottenTomato hate.

I just want to know if they will carry my reviews/ratings from RT over to Fandango.

Eh people said the same thing would happen with Time Warner bought them a while back. Since it has such a large aggregate of reviewers you could not get away with "bribing" them very well. I doubt you will see much change at all.

I doubt it's gonna change. Metacritic though an okay site, I like RT's more wide swath of critics.

Metacrtic is an actual sites for critics to post their reviews. Any idiot can become a RT "critic".

If snobs bash Deadpool or The Force Awakens they aren't the final word.

In fact you can compare the top critic score and compare it to the general score.

You might find yourself agreeing with the latter.

I value general audience opinions a thousand times more than most critics, some of them forget that movies generally are meant to be a fun experience, and not an excuse to nitpick left and right.

Not any idiot, though there are some there. The problem with Metacritic is it has quite a few of the more elitist- nose in the air critics. Not all but most. I like seeing a little more of variety in opinions.

Honest Trailers have made incredible nitpicking a fun experience.

If it ain't broke then don't try and fix it. I hope they leave it as it is.

Ditto.

Wasn't expecting to see this but I also don't expect much change to occur to the site...at least I hope not.

Metacritics is for squares.
