So as one of Doom's biggest fans, I have to say that seeing him under arrest was interesting and the dialogue with Richards was typical Doom/Richards banter that I love so much....until he mentioned the dreaded "My master" is coming spiel....then we get to see a glimpse of this new villain. Personally, I am disgusted that Millar wants to trump Doom as nothing but a lackey to someone more powerful...does this guy not get a clue about Doom? This is a character who bows to no one...I really, really don't like Doom being a minion to someone...the only way this will work is if Doom annihilates this clown and takes the power for himself...hell, over in Dark Reign, we see classic Doom at work with Doom claiming the land while Namor will rule the oceans...straight out of Super Villain Team Up.

If you want to read a superior Doom...read What If Secret Wars aka What if Doctor Doom kept the power of the Beyonder? Pure Genius!!!!

Yeah, Doom being a lackey shows no understanding of the core of the character.

That's bullcrap. Luckily I stopped reading that FF story arc at the second issue.

Doom called referred to someone as his 'master'?

This better be a ruse or a Doombot or something. Otherwise, it no make the sense. :doom:

We're supposed to learn more about Doom's time in Tibet. We have to admit that at one time, Doom yielded to a master there. I just don't know how this guy with the teeth fits in.

Might be good. Might be another step to *****fy Doom.

All this Jail Time for Doom is starting to piss my off. First the Avengers invade Doomstadt? Then the Defenders capture him without much effort. Now he's waiting to be "saved" by his Master.

Things better work out.

:thing: :thing: :thing:

It's obviously Emperor Palpatine.

Well now in all of my history of Doomlore, I can recall a group of monks that Doom went to learn from when they found him in the cold but by the end of his journey, THEY were calling him Master! There was no one else there so this is a forced retcon...Doom is a selfmade man...he owes nothing to no one but himself...just the mere idea of him calling ANYONE Master, p***es me off beyond recognition...read the What If with Doom and tell me if this is the same Doom who challenged all the Gods and won!!!

In that case how was it retconned with daredevil having a "master", Stick was his name ? Originally, DD taught himself how to fight and then he has a sensi

Clearly the Doombot must be referring to his true master....Doom.

Just wait til Doom kills this "Master" and reveals his true bad ass self.

People in general, and most particularly comic book writers, should be better versed in what diplomatic immunity actually entails before they throw the term around. This is not directed at anyone specifically, just everyone in general. Did diplomatic immunity help Saddam Hussein when Americans invaded and then arrested him? That's not how it works.

"It's just been revoked!!!"

It's possible that Doom's master is Dormammu. Doom's made deals with demons before, and we know that he's in league with the Hood, who is in turn linked to Dormammu, on the Illuminaughty.

that makes sense howcould they arrest vicious vic any he has DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY/

Avengers more or less declared war on Latveria and arrested Doom for war crimes. Diplomatic immunity doesn't work when athe US goes to war with your country, it only works during peace times.

It's prolly not Dormammu. I read an interview with Millar and it has something to do with Doom's time in Tibet. Millar also expressed how he's wanting to add to the FF legacy the way past writers like Lee and Byrne did by adding characters that survive the test of time. His New Defenders were just the beginning. I think this new "Master" will be a creation of his own.

As for War on Latveria...

Lemme get this straight. Stark finds a piece of tech in the symbiote virus that belongs to Latveria. He then unilaterally decides to invade a sovereign nation, thereby declaring war.

What?

Circumstantial evidence. No UN hearings. No act of Congress.

He just ****ing invades????

Am I the only one having a little trouble with all that?

:doom: :doom: :doom:

I was just about to ask if the Avengers' "war" with Latveria was approved by Congress. You can't just say that since the Avengers work for the US, their arrest of Doom was okay because he's a war criminal. Technically, the Avengers themselves are war criminals for attacking a sovereign nation without an official declaration of war. Nick Fury's still a fugitive for doing the exact same thing, in fact.

Unless, of course, this wasn't US-related at all and Iron Man was acting as an international peacekeeper or whatever in his role as SHIELD's director. That might be okay, although I don't know what the laws would be for SHIELD since it's fictional and all.

SHIELD still has to answer to the Security Council of the UN. Seems like he acted on his own. When Reed did that in Authoritative Action, he lost all his patents to keep out of jail.

Buncha crud.

:doom: :doom: :doom:

If I were Reed or Nick Fury, I'd want to kick Tony's ass more than ever. :o

Stan always talks about how one of his favorite aspects of Dr. Doom is his diplomatic immunity. Leave it to Bendis to destroy Stan's plot lines.

:doom: :doom: :doom:

I don't mind his getting arrested so much as his puzzling inability to not get out of it. This is Doctor f***ing Doom here. He should be able to work his way out of your most high-tech, high-security prison with a bobby pin and some of his own pubes.
