Hi all, Antariss here...
I am technically a newbie, but I joined originally a year or so ago but for some reason I couldn't sign in any more so I've just rejoined. Before that I have been reading these boards for about fours years or more (i think during the early X-men film days). Enough of the history lesson, I have a copy of the new FF Extended Edition and have watched it. Its not released here in England yet but I got it on import ast a specialist film shop.
Anyway...the extended cut is AWESOME!!!!

Believe me it is more than 5 minutes and must be a bout 20 mins of extra footage integrated properly into the film not like the X-men 1.5 branch effect. I remember getting hold of the shooting script from this board for the first film and felt upset with all the scenes cut out like Ben and Alicia and Johnny getting shamed in the nightclub.
Thankfully these and many more scenes are back in and I feel though the pace is slower as a result - the film feels more 'proper', y'know like a real movie (not tv movie). The scenes I mentioned give the characters more of an arc and let youi feel more for them, partcularly when Ben feels out of place at the art exhibition. Even Victor comes across as more scheming and conniving with his tempting of Johnny scene re-inserted,etc
Another thing that made a big difference for me is the opening title credits. Though not brilliant, they are stylised comic outllines of the cast in various scenes with two tone colours and actually feels quiet 60's. It just helped the film having an opening and the opening scenes at Von doom industries have been extended too, which works.
The film doesn't completely change of course and if you felt it sucked your not going to change your mind. However, if your like me and you enjoyed the film but thought the editing was sloppy and you missed the character scenes and beats (plus opening title) then you'll be very happy as it makes a BIG difference
