Wasn't there speculation that Fox wasn't allowed to crossover the F4/X-men because of rights issues? I'm guessing thats why they never moved forward on this?

Theoretically Iceman should be able to defeat the Fantastic Four singlehandedly if he was powerful enough. When the Fantastic Four are facing him, all he'd need to is send a massive icy blast wave in their direction. They can't outrun it since none of them have superspeed and whilst human torch might not be taken out completely on the first go, it should freeze the other 3 solid.

I've come to believe it's a near certainty that Fox couldn't cross-over without Marvel's permission, but that didn't stop them from imagining scenarios and deluding themselves into believing Marvel would give them permission if they asked real nice.

We also know there were thoughts about including the FF in Deadpool:

I remember there being rumors of a FF/X-Men crossover film years ago. So that isn't news to me. Interesting Paul Greengrass was involved. Now that is new

Can you imagine the fox logo with the F and X both fading out at the start of the film?

Don't underestimate Sue and her energy shields.

She could take Iceman down if she also turns invisible. He doesn't have superspeed either

I remember back in 2013/2014 there were rumors of a X-Men/F4 crossover movie. Pretty certain this was to happen based on how Trank’s F4 was received and we all saw how much of a disaster that was

If Iceman fired off the ice blast wave first (something akin to the water rushing towards the X-Jet after the dam burst at Alkali lake) then Sue Storm's invisibility won't do her any good. As for the energy shields, the extreme cold temperature would probably make it extremely difficult for her to concentrate and keep them up, though that's assuming the shields don't protect from extreme temperatures.

I mean as long as the FoX-Men have Jean Grey and Storm, that battle is a no contest.

Yes, yes I can.

I remember this coming up before. So glad it never happened.

Movie Sue is iffy with what she can do, comic Sue's shields could handle extreme temperatures relatively easily.
Plus this is the film version of the teams who are both weaker than their comic counterparts so Iceman may not be as useful as you think... or any character really.

*cough* In most portrayals in the comics, Sue's force fields are *quite* good at blocking esoteric attacks and influences. Bobby isn't going to be lowering the temperature inside her shields, unless he can first actually overcome them. Which given her track record, is not happening anytime soon if ever.

Am I the only one who feels like I’m watching them argue if Mighty Mouse can beat up Superman in Stand by Me? :funny:

These are fictional characters. Any character can defeat any other character. It just depends on what the writer wants to happen.

“Howard the Duck creeps up behind Sue Storm with a 0.38 revolver pointed at her head.

She starts to turn, he pulls the trigger, and Sue falls in a red mist.”

There. Howard the Duck just defeated the most powerful member of the FF.

This is true in a technical sense, but only with an added corollary: ". . . and if there is no internal consistency such that one can meaningfully determine outcomes based on anything but random writer whim, than the story is badly written".

Basically, if you start from a poorly written story, then sure, whoever wins is purely whoever the writer wants to win. However, in a *well* written story, the characters have consistency in the rules they follow, their general portrayal and history, such that one can make meaningful predictions about outcomes. Even if these general outlines leave the outcome a tossup reasonably determinable by the writer in an "any given Sunday" sense, they still provide the framework for creating such a scenario, in terms of the tools the characters have available.

Or in summary: unless the writer is trash, the X-Men are still going to need that fast draw here to have a hope against Susan Richards, not the least because fundamentally, the Fantastic Four are just plain a more powerful team than the X-Men. :p

I used to watch the TV version of the Flash, but couldn’t handle the fact that he so easily outmatched most of the people he faced, but the writers never actually had him use his power properly.

“Oh look, that bad guy is pointing a freeze-ray gun at us. I guess I’ll just stand here and do whatever he says rather than... I don’t know... maybe run over there and snatch the gun from him in a fraction of the time it would take for him to pull the trigger.”:funny:

Please don't get me started on the Flash........................

At least the Flash has the excuse of "This is true to the comic", seeing as he does exactly the same thing there. *ahem* Plus, in the better seasons, at least it has solid characterization and theming ( to put it mildly, I loved the first 3 seasons or so of the show ).

I don't think Iceman stands a chance. The Human Torch goes supernova and hits Iceman with a blast of plasma. Bobby is instantly vaporized. There wouldn't be enough left of him to fog up Cyclops' visor.

The premise Greenglass said they were going with would have been horrific. The script would turn the Human Torch into a mass murderer on an even bigger scale than Nitro when the latter blew up a grade school. There would have been hundreds of thousands if not millions of deaths in Manhattan, which is an event so unimaginably awful that the Torch and the FF as a team could never be redeemed. Johnny would essentially take the place of Dark Phoenix, as he would become the most dangerous force on Earth who needed to be defeated. Reed, Sue and Ben would be better off trying to either neutralize Johnny or exile him to space themselves rather than fighting the mutants to save him.

What a &!#* show. Good thing Fox is dead and never got to make it.

Name one time Foxmen Storm ever used her powers to their fullest potential. She whipped up some tornados in X2, 'tis true but she immediately stopped doing anything after that. Storm could have easily stopped the mini-tsunami and/or lifted the Blackbird into the sky at the end of the movie instead of doing f-all and looking scared. The solar wind bit in DP was okay but she did little beyond that. Storm was an even more useless Horseperson than Angel! I know portraying her powers is expensive but the way she was used in Foxmen was pathetic.

No arguments here.

Bryan Singer and FoxMen totally misused Storm. I can write a whole essay about it.
