Favorite Batman portrayal?

People have different definitions of "good shape". Keaton needed an additional 50lbs or so of muscle to effectively play Batman. His acting was great, but he was far, far too skinny.

He was skinny so he could fit in the suit. Otherwise they would have hired someone like Arnold Schwarzenegger (who was considered for the role as well as Robocop).

That's why Christian Bale looked so fat in the suit in Batman Begins.

Keaton most definitely. I liked his Wayne and his Batman was perfect in my opinion.

Bale was a great Bruce Wayne, but his Batman was the lamest thing in his own movies. The weakest aspect of TDK is Batman himself.

The whole point of Keaton being cast as Batman, and Tim Burton's version of Batman, is that he is not some super-ripped, huge guy. That's why he puts on the Batsuit, to scare people. If he was built like Arnie, he could just put on a hockey mask.

Burton has said this himself many times.

That is very silly reasoning by Mr Burton. The Batman suit is not there to make him look super ripped. Bruce is already a muscular guy from his years of training. It's not enough for Batman to just look like he can beat someone up. He wears it to make himself look like a scary creature of the night. To appear like something more terrifying than a man.

If we include animation, Kevin Conroy is the definative Bruce/Batman for me.

Outside of a few artists here and there that exaggerate his body proportions, Batman very rarely "looks like Arnie". Bale didn't "look like Arnie" either.
