What were your favorite or least favorite batman animated movie(s)?

I enjoyed Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman,
I hated Batman: Gotham Knight

I haven't seen BGK yet but yes MOTP is the best one.

Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker is my fav. It's the darkest portrayl of animated Joker.

MOTP is a close second.

i forgot about Batman Beyond Return of the Joker, i loved that one too.

Favorite: Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker

Least Favorite: BGK's Field Test.

MOTP is the best, of course.

ROTJ is a close second. I was VERY impressed with it when I first saw it because I didn't think it would be that good, but it was.

Does that one really count? It wasn't meant to be a movie, was it?

BTW, Mystery of the Batwoman put me to sleep. I should probably watch it again, and recently had the chance to do so, but passed on it.

I'm going to buy ROTJ today, but it doesn't say its the uncut version, what parts are cut? Also, is Batman vs The Dracula worth $10?

The uncut version of RotJ does say so on the cover, in red letters. Here are the deleted scenes, from wikipedia:

"The movie was initially released amid the backlash against violence in movies and video games aimed at children that followed the Columbine High School massacre; as a result, the movie was substantially re-edited shortly before release to tone down the violence. Many of the changes were controversial, particularly those made to a key scene in which the Joker is killed. The original unedited version has been released as "The Original Uncut Version." This story was broken by Jim Harvey from The World's Finest.

The following are scenes that were changed in the edited-for-content version:

* The opening fight sequence is trimmed, cutting out a second Dee-Dee kick and completely redoing the entire Batman/Dee-Dee sequence.
* Lots of white flashes have been added to the action sequences where there were previously none. Additionally, combinations of punches have been mostly trimmed down to one punch. For example, Woof slashes the guard once now instead of twice. Batman no longer punches Ghoul in the gut; he just uppercuts him into the dish. Later on in the club, Terry's attack on Ghoul is cut to a flash and Terry running away while Ghoul falls. There is a 360-degree fight sequence in the opening battle that has also been removed, where Batman fends off the Jokers one by one.
* When Bruce throws the Batarang, it appears as though he's simply pleased that he can still throw and catch the weapon, instead of using it to decapitate a Two-Face dummy.
* Seat belts are added to Terry and Bruce as they drive home after their first meeting with the new Joker as well as in the chase scenes in the Batmobile.
* Bonk is not shot with Joker's flag-spear gun, but instead given a dose of Joker laughing gas, taking his implied death off-screen. Because of this, a: the whole "Take the trash outside, Dee-Dee" and "Are you with me?" sequence is cut, b: the flag remained on the gun, c: when Joker said "Oops. No, I wasn't," green smoke is visible, d: Jokerz staring was replaced with Bonk's deranged laughter, e: when Joker says, "That's also how we did it in my day," Bonk and the edge of the table he was lying on were added, f: the sound of the second trigger pull went from a flying rocket to a gas release mechanism activation, and g: laughter was in the background until Joker says, "New Gotham, new rules, even a new Batman."
* The club fight is changed. Chucko no longer punches Terry and says "I don't know why the boss wants a dreg like you outta the way, but hey, as long as it's fun..." He just goes for his gun and says "Slag him!"
* When Terry enters the Batcave to find it demolished by the Joker, the letters 'HA! HA!' written across the floor are changed from red to purple, probably to assure the viewer it is written in spray paint rather than Bruce's blood.
* During a montage where Batman and Batgirl comb the underworld looking for clues about Robin's disappearance, Batgirl talks to a nicely-dressed man and woman instead of two scantily clad women, clearly intended to be prostitutes, on a street corner. These two women appeared in The New Batman Adventures as Batgirl's "sources," in the episode "The Ultimate Thrill." The blonde is based on an early Black Canary character design later seen in Justice League Unlimited
* In the unedited version, when Batman (in the flashback) frees himself from the Joker's ribbon wrap, he throws the knife that he used to free himself with at the Joker. The Joker ducks at the last second and the blade goes through the stage curtain.
* Two of the Joker's lines are changed. One line, "I'll begin with how I peeled back the layers of the boy's mind" is changed to, "I'll begin with how I affected young Robin's makeover." In another, the words "the serums and the shocks took their toll," are cut out.
* More than half of the "Our Family Memories" home movie is cut out, only showing Robin tied up and struggling, and cutting the scene where the Joker opens the barbecue lids, picks up the voltage tongs, and shocks Robin.
* All other blood is removed. Only one example was passed over: in the flashback sequence when the original Batman smashes through the projection, he punches the Joker. Blots of blood fly from the Joker's mouth, but he is not bleeding in the next shot.
* The Joker no longer slices Batman across the chest or in the leg (originally intended to explain why Bruce walks with a limp in Batman Beyond); he just punches Batman. However, if one looks closely at the Joker's hand, the knife handle is still visible in the edited version.
* The Joker originally wanted Robin to shoot Batman with a gun, saying, "Make Daddy proud." The edited version shows that the Joker wants Robin to "Make him one of us" by shooting him with a gun designed to make Batman similar to the Joker and Robin. The Joker's line, "The last sound you'll hear will be our laughter," is kept in. Also, the gun is tossed away in the fight with the Joker. When Robin drops down to cry, the gun is right next to him. When Batgirl comes to comfort him, the gun is gone.
* The Joker is not shot, but slips in some water and is electrocuted off screen. The dialogue in the subsequent scene is changed, with no mention of the Joker being buried under Arkham Asylum.
* A lot of dialogue is changed as well; references to the word "kill" are changed.
* The Joker's dialogue of asking Terry if he had "any last words for the Bat-Fart" now changed to "any last words for the old Bat-Kook".
* Terry's dialogue is altered from "I'm assuming his girlfriend bought it, too" to "And since you saw Harley fall into the pit..."
* Barbara's dialogue is once more altered from "..she was able to help Tim back to sanity" to "...she was able to help Tim back to himself."
* Jordan Price's dialogue is changed from "...bunglers tried to kill Wayne" to "...bunglers tried to ice Wayne."
* Bruce says "Robin defeated him" instead of "Robin did shoot him."
* After Bonk tells the Joker, "I think you're a fake!", the Joker comes back by saying "Ah, brave new world, that has such putzes in it." It has been changed to "brave new world, that has such yutzes in it."
* Right before Tim Drake turns into the Joker, he says "It's a killer." It's altered to "It's a doozy."
* As Tim Drake is recounting past events of the Joker's death, his dialogue was altered from "Oh God. I killed him. I didn't mean to. I tried so hard to forget...but I still hear the shot, still see his dead smile." to "Oh God. I did it. I didn't mean to. I tried so hard to forget...but I can still hear his scream. I can still see his frozen smile."
* In the scene where the satellite laser chases the Batmobile, it blasts an unmarked, dark, seemingly empty building. Originally, it was a lit movie theater. In the edited version, the word "cineplex" can be seen exploding out of the wreckage in the last few frames of the shot.
* The introduction to the scene on the Wayne Enterprises yacht between Jordan Price and his female friend is excised.
* When Ace watches part of a Looney Tunes episode on the TV ("Hare Ribbin'") where a dog thinks he killed Bugs Bunny, the dog on TV says "I don't deserve to live!" over and over instead of moving on to saying "I wish I were dead!" twice."

My favourite animated Batman movies (not ranking them in quality but how much I like them):

1. The Batman Versus Dracula (2005)
2. The Batman/Superman Movie (1998)
3. Mask of the Phantasm (1993)
4. Mystery of the Batwoman (2003)
5. Return of the Joker (2000)
6. Sub-Zero (1997)

Does that one really count? It wasn't meant to be a movie, was it?

Some of the greatest works of literature - A Christmas Carol, The Three Musketeers - weren't meant as novels (they were written as serial fiction in newspapers), but they remain great novels nonetheless.

For Nathan Petrelli, here's a great link to show you all the differences in the Batman: ROTJ DVD :

Favorite animated movie... personally would be:

1)Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm
2)Batman Beyond: Return Of The Joker
3)Sub-Zero
4)The Batman versus Dracula
5)Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman
6)The Batman/Superman Movie

I don't dislike any... and look forward to adding Gotham Knight to that list in some capacity.

My ranking:

1. Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker -
Sure it was a DTV but a brilliant one. Joker was never better than here in DCAU and him finding out Bruce is Batman and exploring more of Barbara Gordon as well as Joker's reaction to Terry McGuinness as Batman...awesome.

2. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm -
Beautifully animated with a wonderfully sweeping score and stellar voice work. This is probably the most mature installment in any form to the DCAU and it told Batman's origin in a nostalgic, neo-noir/art deco way as well as adding a great new character to the canon (Andrea/Phantasm). Also, this was the first time Hamill's Joker was really allowed to be the full evil bastard he deserved to be.

3. World's Finest -
A great combination of Batman and Superman that made for a whole lot of fun. Their interaction was extremely entertaining and funny, especially their first encounters and pushing each other's buttons. Also, Joker beating Superman and Lex Luthor's smug attitudes senseless was a joy to see for any Batman fan.

I didn't like the following nearly as much, but they were also good...kind of:

4. Batman: Sub-Zero -
Heart of Ice may be one of the best episodes of TAS, but this movie was pretty dull. It had the voice acting and touched on the Barbara Gordon and Dick Grayson pairing which I liked and brought some tragic (if temporary) resolution to Mr. Freeze, but it was pretty forgettable, I thought.

5. Batman and the Mystery of the Batwoman -
This was barely in continuity. It was pretty dull and predictable. You could figure it all out within ten minutes and the writing suffered from a noticeable decline and outside of the BB epilogue in JLU it is unfortunate this was the last real solo-Bat adventure in the DCAU. I did like looking back the little nod of a romance between Bruce and Barbara (as creepy as it kind of is. Wonder how the Commish takes that?).

I haven't seen Batman Vs. Dracula or Batman: Gotham Knights and from the reviews of both, I'm not planning to.

P.S. Am I the only one who wishes they'd make one more. I know JLU was supposed to be it for the DCAU and WB animation has moved on to newer (and inferior) projects. But Batman was always the obvious flagship of DCAU and one of the most important characters in it, Dick Grayson/Nightwing never got the resolution that Bruce, Tim, Barbara and Terry did. Batman could still be the main character, but let's rewind and give Nightwing a fitting send-off.

1: Batman Gotham Knight
1: Return of the Joker (tied for #1)
2: Mask of the Phantasm
3: Batman/Superman Movie (technially 3 episodes from Superman TAS but released as an independent DVD for easy watching)
4: Sub-Zero
5: Mystery of the Batwoman
6: Batman vs Dracula

In regards to other DC animated Movies, I would put Superman Doomsday tied for #2 with MOTP, and Justice League New Frontier tied for #3 with Batman/Superman movie. Iron Man and the 2 avenger movies for me are also tied for #3, mainly because all of these movies at #3 tell great comic book stories, but I would view their animated translation as above average but not so visually stunning and movie-like.

Sub-Zero was done well, but I would have preferred a different batman story to be told in the original batman TAS feel. Mr Freeze is okay, but I would have liked to seen another villian. However, I do respect the way they did it and the way Batman TAS made Mr Freeze "less campy" and more serious.

Mystery of the Batwoman was okay, I like the visual style of the updated Batman TAS episodes. However, I would have liked to seen a better interpretation of Batgirl/Bat Woman. Bane also felt out of place slightly.

Superman Braniac attacks is #7, worse than all the others (bad writing, and changing the voice actors of luthor and braniac, for shame). It felt like they tried to spend their budget on a slightly updated animation, but sacrificed the writing and the voice acting, which didn't feel right.

My favourite one: Mask of the Phantasm. I wouldn't call it brilliant, but definitely the best of the animated movies so far.

Least favourite one: Return of the Joker. I really was never a fan of the character design of Batman Beyond, and I especially hated the way they a)killed the Joker, b) brought him back. I have to say though, that the flashbacks scenes, inclugin how Joker completely destroyed Robin's mind, was cool. unfortunately, from my point of view, the good parts don't make up for the bad ones, as far as this movie is concerned.

I also must say that I haven't seen Mystery of the Batwoman, so I did not take it into account.

I liked Batman vs Dracula all right, although having dracula appear in a Batman storyline was a bit meh. And yes I know there are comics out there with Batman and Dracula, and I don't like them either. Gotham Knight was average. Some excellent segments, some very poor ones.

just for fun, hes a pick i did of what cassies batgirl suit would have looked like in the bruce tim BTAS world
