Which villain death do you think is the best?

Joker: Fell to his death off Gotham Cathedral with a gargoyle to his ankle

Penguin: Cant explain really

Two-Face: Fell to his death in a watery and rocky pit

I voted Joker's. His death was well done and was a bit scary.

I believe in Gotham City
I believe in Batman
I believe in Jim Gordon
I believe in Harvey Dent

The Penguin is attacked by bats and falls through a window about fifty feet into the murky water of his refridgerated base. He rises, but is clearly dying, and the fact that the cooling system has been destroyed only hastens his demise. Eventually he just collapses, and the Emperor penguins return him into the water from the same place they found him as a baby. The final shot is a creepy close up of his corpse falling through the water towards us.

Thanks for the explanation I never really understood how he died.

None of those, actually. I think it was a mistake to kill any of them off.

Did anyone ever notice the stupidity of the original four films (not really including the first but you can), that EVERY SINGLE KEY EVIL VILLAIN FALLS A LARGE DISTANCE TO THEIR INEVITABLE DEATH (or close to it)

Joker, Penguin, Two-Face (and this is when it was getting really lame and "convenient", Freeze (even though he didn't die), and did Bane fall too?

Technically, a long fall was involved in Ra's' death in BB too. :o

In any case, I voted for Joker's death. Although, I must say, Penguin's was great too - and acted out fantastically by DeVito.

It's not just those guys either-

The Joker mentions Alicia 'jumping' to her death
Batman and Vicki fall (but live)
Catwoman falls several times
The Ice Princess falls
The Flying Graysons fall
Robin and Chase fall from the cages (but live)
Batgirl and Robin fall from the telescope (again, they live)

Someone could make a video dedicated to 'falling'!

Having a villain falling to his death is a very symbollic way to go. There are various ways to interpret it. The Joker's death is that he's literally dragged down by a gargoyle, whilst Batman and Vicki are at the very peak of a church. Given that the climax is a homage to Metropolis, and in that film the villain is knocked from a church without the hero apparently touching him, you could look upon Gotham as hell and the Joker being taken there by the gargoyle. Certainly the shot of the Joker screaming as he's falling towards the streets far below seems like the last cries of the damned. Batman and Vicki almost fall with him, but are saved at the last moment.

It's a tossup (no pun intended) between Two-Face and Penguin, for the same two reasons: because of the great visuals and because I wanted those bastards to die.

That is a really good point Kevin. I never really saw it like that before.

Two-Face, when Batman threw lotsv of coin Face didn't know the difference fel; to his death.

You can make a good point about Joker and Penguin but after that, good grief, ITS ALL ABOUT FALLING!!!>?!?!?? It's out of control! This is rediculous! People don't go around "FALLING" in comics, and it's hardly doable on film now. Fall, FALL, FFAAALLL, AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.....:bump:

The Penguin´s Death was a beautifully shot and scored sequence. For me, it was by far the best death scene. The last shot is unforgettable.

Agreed. It's both creepy and sad at once.

****, I picked the cute one

The Penguin's death is one of the most hauntingly powerful and provocative images I've ever seen, and I've seen hundreds of movies. After all the vile, disgusting things he had said and done throughout the entire course of the movie, you still felt a genuine level of pity when he died, which says a lot. I agree that it's also pretty creepy at the same time. Elfman's core is just incredible at that moment.

I also enjoyed seeing Max Shreck get his greedy corporate ass fried by Catwoman. "How about a kiss, Anti-Claus?" Great stuff. Pfeiffer was badass at that moment.

I feel the exact same. Elfman music does the magic. That scene made me think about the tragedy of being a monster.

:ninja:

Penguin's death.

It was gruesome and tragic. The penguins pushing his corpse into the water was actually quite touching.

Penguin's death for all of those reasons and more! Batman Returns is the most underappreciated "Christmas movies" out there:)

It's not really a Christmas movie - it's not about Christmas. It's just set at Christmas, like Home Alone.

The Muppet Christmas Carol and The Santa Claus are about Christmas.
