In the 90's I stopped reading after Knightfall, Knightsend, Knightquest, it seemed to fall apart and Kelley Jones' art was a big factor in it.

I only collected the "big event" stuff like Hush and recently Andy Kuberts stuff.

Sweet. Someone else who didn't like Kelley Jones' artwork. I'm with you on that, man. There were a lot of people who really thought he drew really well and I want to know what crack they were smoking. :oldrazz:

Maybe that crack they were smoking is their own opinion?

I never liked Jones' art either, though.

It's hard to pick a favorite era (I enjoy all of them) but I guess I'll go with 1970 - 1980.

Great comics.

Jeez, haven't you known that you can say anything around here and as long as you use the tongue sticking out smiley face it's all in good fun.

So, basically...I was kidding. :woot: :oldrazz:

This would be a poll that i would make.Ive read quite a few Batman paperbacks, the best writing was from the 80`s.

I'm rather fond of the early editions.

Despite the period between the end of the Moench/Jones-run and OYL I like everything. This was the time when Batman was an annoying jerk written for the college wrath kiddie people.

Best era: 70s or 80s. Hard to say. The 70s had the more iconic stories, but the 80s were more consistent in quality. Afterall I pick the 70s. Neal Adams & Englehart/Rogers. Nuff said.

70 to the mid 90's. Then everything went to crap, starting with that stupid earthquake. Batman hasn't been good till recently with the Kubert run and now the Resurrection of Ra's Al Ghul. They have really screwed things up the last few years, all that crap about bringing back Jason, so ******ed!

My words

For me it started with that stupid plague.

There hasn't been anything in Batman comics that I've ever really hated. But I'm not finding the new material anywhere near as great as others do. I even found the ending of Al Ghul's return anti-climactic.

The very first era for me. I want every Golden Age Batman comic in my collection.

1. 80s for the improved writing, although most of the things that made Batman so "suck-y" started here. The excellent Breyfogle/Grant run counts as "80s" :hehe:
2. 70s for the atomspheric stories, Haney's Brave & The Bold, but a lot of stories in this era were still really stupid
3. 1939 - 1950, because I like the Dick Sprang Batman who punched the villains while laughing and having a good time and the early Finger stories.
4. 2000 - Today; finally they are going back to a lighter approach and finally things like computer-coloring are getting mastered. But the early years with the Paranoid Psychoninja Batman were quite painful.
5. 1990 - 2000; the early years were good but then (see above, computer coloring) the stories became so gritty and somewhat soulless I couldn't enjoy them anymore.
6. 1950s - 1964; I am not really pleased with the "eras" the OP created, but these stories aren't as bad as many people made them, especially the early 50s.
7. 1964 - 1970; I do not really like the early "New Look" stories, yes they are more serious and are the start of the better "eras" but I don't like them that much.

'90-'00

TLH, Dark Victory, and Haunted Knight are definitley in my top 10 and that's when I felt Batman was becoming a more darker character and when I started to collect Batman comics and trades.
