Favorite random heroes?

Here's a perfect example of what I'm talking about from Time and Time Again, which is Post Crisis.

Superman goes back in time to the 40s and saves FDR's life from a Nazi assassin. The assassin shoots at Superman as he enters the room. The bullets bounce off Superman and kill the assassin.

Now technically Superman didn't intentionally kill the assassin, but he was certainly responsible for his death. The man would NOT have died at that moment if Superman had not intervened.

And yet Superman did the right thing by saving FDRs life, even though the assassin died in the process.

I don't really think Superman is worthy of blame in that instance. One could argue that if the assassin hadn't decided to assassinate someone, he wouldn't have been near a deadly weapon that thus wouldn't have killed him. His own actions are far more to blame than Superman, who basically just stood there.

Superman is not responsible for his death. In that example, Superman can be likened to a wall. If the bullet ricocheted of a wall and killed the assassin, would we then say it is the wall's fault the assassin died? No, it's the assassin's fault. The fact that the bullet bounced off Superman is not something Superman can control. That's part of his psychical make-up.

Oh whoops, I got confused by my own two topics. Ha ha.

Anyway, random heroes, continue on.

Does Captain Comet still count? He's been brought to the fore a lot thanks to Infinite Crisis, Mystery in Space, and Countdown to Adventure (I think, unless they left him off of that, even though it's still dealing with the Lady Styx plot that his previous two appearances hinged on).

Vartox I like simply for having the balls to wear that costume and still be that arrogant. :D

I liked Vartox because he showed new powers every time he appeared and was 2-0 against Superman.

I've always liked "The Global Guardians". Alas we see them far too infrequently and they are usually poorly presented if the DO appear. I am also liking "Shadowpact". It's great to see characters like "Ragman" and "Nightshade" again after all these years !

I'm pretty pissed about Shadowpact being cancelled but I think it brought a revival of some of those great characters. I hear Ragman will be appearing in some issues of Robin soon. :D

I hope Zauriel rejoins the Justice League. Seriously, that character falling back into limbo would be a shame.

The Tomorrow Woman's coming back in Trinity, apparently. I'm looking forward to that. Maybe there's still some hope for Faith and Zauriel, since they're also alumni of that JLA era.

While not a DC character Armless tiger man is the greatest character ever!!!

Uncle Sam is criminally under-used, and it drives me up the wall that the only purpose he ever seems to serve is for whoever's writing to use him as a political soapbox.

Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters have become some of my faves over the last couple years.

My heart is always with Hitman. Tommy Monoghan was a cool character, man.

I also love Lagoon Boy, Lobo, Kid Devil, Shadowpact, Metamorpho ever since his cartoon appearance, and Creeper (cartoon and Niles version)

Deadshot and Great White Shark are probably my 2 newest faves. Would love to see more out of them. Villains United and Secret Six were pretty cool, and Shark seems like a cool new adversary.

I would also like to see The Point Men from Young Justice to make a comeback although I think teen Titans is full of enough dime store versions of themselves

Really? I thought his last incarnation was pretty much like Captain America. Concrete in philosophy and political stance but I dont read too much into political stuff so maybe not.
