Do you have any particular favorites when in comes to scenes in scifi movies? I have a few...precious few.

-- the scene where Jodie Foster's character in Contact journeys in space and meets her dad...I always cry at that part. It gets to me...on two levels, one she meets her dad but it also has his implicity spiritual/judeo christian context that makes it so sweet.

-- Tears in the Rain from Blade Runner... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IB86fXIXLmk its just so touching, I have no idea why...but it is one of the greatest monologues in a film. ever.

-- The Gattaca Intro http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcjuTx0YKcw so smooth and already so sad

-- like the WHOLE movie A.I. Artificial Intelligence, but most importantly the final scenes...beautiful and sad...really underscores our own mortality.

-- the scene in Minority Report where Agatha tells John and wife about their son

they mention my home town numerous times in that film.

The first tripod appearance in War of the Worlds. Perfection.

I much prefer the scene where she first intercepts the alien signal. It's such a dramatic moment.

Fantastic choice which I gladly second. It's an amazing movie moment.

One of my favorite films, but I prefer the swimming sequence near the end.

I like this scene... don't know if it's one of my favorites though.

This is my number one moment in all of sci-fi. The monologue is amazing because it captures the human experience, it's the fate that awaits us all.

Other amazing moments:

The whole of Brazil and the whole of 12 Monkeys

The ship hitting the eye of the man in the moon in Le Voyage Dans La Lune

Marty goes on a date with his mom in Back to the Future

Anakin and Obi-Wan flying into battle at the beginning of Episode III. I was awed when they showed the full scope of what was going down.

Thats should have been so much cooler, with less of them *****ing and shooting little crappy buzz droids and more dog fighting with tri-fighters. Would have loved to see a squadron of ARC-170 take on a capital ship:(

the first time the guyver appeared in THE GUYVER:ninja:

Any old school Sci-Fi movie scene, where the giant ant or spider comes over the "mountains"

The cityscapes in Metropolis

Moloch! from Metropolis

Great scene in Tarantula where the army try to blow it up....but when the smoke clears, it's still walking towards them. Great effects, especially for a movie made in the 50's - and, of course, it's Clint Eastwood who eventually kills the damn thing.

You beat me to it! I love the seven deadly sins scene also!

Other scenes include

- 2001, pretty much all of it, lol.

- thirteenth floor, when Douglas Hall first enters the simulation

- Brazil, pretty much the whole film, hard to pick a fav scene

- The day the earth stood still, when Gort appears

- Original War of the world, when we see the apocalyptic scenes of the streets.

- La Jetee, when we see her almost look at us...

- Natural City- The bike riding scenes and general sets etc...

- Casshern, where to start really.....lol

- Star Trek 4, scene with the punk

Yeah!! Those movies are classic. "Day of the Triffids" is my favorite.

A shower of meteorites produces a glow that blinds anyone that looks at it. Vintage 1962 Sci-Fi:hyper:

-The begining of T2
-Reece vs the Terminator at the club
-Marines getting ambushed by the Aliens in the cocoon chamber then Ripleys Rescue
-Harrison Ford trying to get away from Rutger Hauer in Blade Runner

Chestburster from Alien.
Ripleys battle with the queen in Aliens.
The end of The Terminator.

The opening cartoon thingy in Dune - the director's cut.
and any scene with Alia - that is one freaky child.
