February 2012 Fan Art Contest

edit*** just read the rules about dont post work in progress, sorry lol

no worries. feel free to create your own art thread if you don't have one and you can post all your stuff over there and when you're done, post it here too

Just a request (not a decree) if people post "fan art" here try to vary the characters so we can have a variety of the spiderman theme not just same character over and over - like there are lots of spiderman costumes out there, Just a humble request Lots of villains too :)

^^^ yea i agree with you ive been working on a rhino pic, ive always loved the many different villians in spiderman exspecially rhino.

i used an artwork from Gabrielle Dell Otto as a reference

can i post it?

reference pics are allowed as long as they're not traced/etc so let's see what you got

I like having a broad theme like 'all things spider-man'. At first, I thought I'd be doing villains.

I was doodling away and finally decided to try a Steampunk version... and this is the result:

I had lots of fun with this. Hope you enjoy! Comments are always welcomed!

Check out my fanart thread, if you're interested in seeing some of my other stuff or a bigger version of this piece! :)

very nice Matt, great work love the idea.:)

Something new that I was playing around with. I would have colored it but I kind of like the b/w look.

Awesome stuff so far - especially from Matt.

Question... jut to be clear on the rules - this should be new art, right? As in, created this month?

Just repeating this Humble request - of course do as you will - if you send in pics let's try varying the them like putting villains - different costumes etc so have a wide choice of spiderman characters not just 1 - Of course do not let me influence the idea - It's why i made up a cosmic spiderman image to have a "variety"

also I am sure you can post "old entries" like last contest - though if I enter one I try to make all new ones for it

"Old entrees" may be subject to ok by "ComicChick" because this is her forum not ours but I do not believe it says otherwise in forum rukles

technically if i'm not mistaken, the old rules was only that it could never have been used in a SHH! contest before, so i will stick with that rule

In the future I have a suggestion If i may get real clothing material - (Like Blue Cloth - Red cluth build up your paper mache mold underneath apply the cloth over it and the glue stuff and things you did over the cloth - maybe like aluminum foil for the eyes or a mirror like surface material - and it should look really cool - you can get clothing materialk very similar to that used in the movie at the W stores

To make the webbing you use thick black glue - I think that's what you did anyways right?

Oh doh I mean chicken mesh good idea how to do it

looks like an official image with some photoshop filters thrown on it

Actually it is an manip in a way. The background is a picture I took on my last trip into NY and the Spidey image is an official picture from Spider-man 1. I was going to do weither a movie poster or daily bugle newspaper, but i went for turning it into a charcoal like image with PS.
