Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children arrives FINALLY on April 25th

I think you'd have non-gamers seeing it as well, if just for the pretty animation.

It's an amazing technical achievement.
personally as an person not familair to the game, if i wasnt interested in the action genre, i would be might disappointed.

because of the length of time it's taken for it to get released it certainly does look dated animation wise all though the fluidity of the movements is right up there as well as the action scenes being groundbreaking.

but if that's not for you and you don't like reading subtitles and you haven't played the game, then ti doesn't have anything to offer.

i mean considering it's cgi anime, how many anime films make it to a cinema screen in the western world, they mostly all go straight to dvd. such is the way with the genre.

maybe the companies can't afford the advertising to get it to the big screen.

Disney actually releases and promotes Studio Ghibli films, but they intentially do minimal marketing and limit the release to a few hundred screens.

the thing with the limited viewing is that only the hardcore would be interested about it, and all the hardcore advent children fans had watched the film months and months ago.

i'm not sure about others but if i've watched something before i've gotten to the cinema, i'm definitely not going to go to the cinema to watch it, especially if i have to go out of my way to find one that's playing it.

I wish. Final Fantasy 8 would make for an epic tale if it was about an hour longer then Advent Children...

I think sequels to both 8 and 9 are in order. Both would make great movies IMO, and i need to see Squall's gunblade in action.

Likewise but I don't think 9 generated enough cult success or commerical success to have it's own film. The gunblade in live action would be awesome!

Do square enix have any more plans for future movies?

There doesn't seem to be plans currently.

However, look at how successful Advent Children is? Not just in Japan but in the US. It's huge and it shows how much people still care about FFVII and are invested in those characters.

Now that Advent Children became a success, I wouldn't rule it out.

The stain of Spirits Within has finally been wiped clean.

I'd prefer to just forget that one -.- They just tacked FF to the title and hoped for a bite. :(

AC wouldn't do good if released in theatres because it's missing a crucial element - a plot. If it was a movie version of the actual game, then it might have a chance.

It has enough plot I think.

For one thing it shows what happened after the cliffhanger ending of FFVII. And it finally resolves Cloud story.

Also, plenty of movies that don't have an actual plot make hundreds of million of dollars in the US BO.

AC is doing well here in England also, so i think they have every reason to do more movies.

I wonder if they can break the 1 million unit mark in the US. They've already long surpassed it in Japan.

AHHH my eyes and ears, i bought it yesterday.

Now the thing i find with Subs is that once you're used to an predetermined set, when you read another set of subs it feels all completely off

as for the dubs, don't get me started

and looking at the recaps of ff7, i wonder how this game took off at all, i think ff8 appeals to me more for some reason. squall's one mean mofo.

all in all, i thought buying the official copy would mean that i can get rid of my copy, but yet again just like spidey 2, i think i'll have to keep them both. Damn these official copies

ps

they are lucky they didn't change Vicent saying 'fly' (although they changed every one else's dialogue in the cloud leap scene) otherwise i swear i would have thrown my dvd player off of my balcony.

Wow they changed some things even though the meaning is still essentially the same. Keep whining.

Final Fantasy VII was the first FF game on the Playstation console, and there weren't too many RPG's as fantastic as that one when it was around. It really raised the bar.

I found nothing wrong with what the characters were saying when they were boosting Cloud up. Everything seemed to fit fine.

Well that's because it's remained consistent for you but it's changed for me.

imagine watching your favourite film to find the dialogue has changed for about 20% of it.

it's all relative, i'm sure if you watched my copy, you'd think the dialogue was wrong there, it's just what the brain has gotten used to. Tis hard to adjust.

Final Fantasy wasnt the first game on the Playstation by a long way, but it was just such an immense experience. Sure it looks dated now, A LOT, but the story etc still remains amazing. I never got into any other game like i did with this one when i was a big gamer back then. I haver since stopped playing game's about five years ago. Typical that DOC and others are coming out now. But i dont want to buy a Playstation 2 or 3, thats why i want more movies.

i think he means the first on a console of that calibur. it took the final fantasy scope to another level.
