Firefighters Forced To Attend Gay Pride Parade

To be fair, black history month isn't associated with *******s who preach that they're genetically superior like white "pride" is. It's all ******ed if you ask me, your physical features are designed for you to thrive in a particular environment, big deal.

I wasn't really referring towards black history month, just that if I went out and said that "all white people should be proud to be white" I would get dirty looks. But if a black person said that "all black people should be proud to be black" it would be a different story. I think thats just because of the White Supremisist Movement gave white people a really bad name, and got society to make us feel bad about what our ancesters done.

My ancestors simply came from Germany to the United States in 1872 and started a farm in Kansas. Why should I feel bad about that?

friendly little fascist, aren't you?

No, I'm actually a Libertarian.

Wow that's not very appropriate. Well, am I a Christian? No. I wasn't specifically trying to get attention, I was quit polite and modest, and not in-your-face (like the response you just gave me). I just wanted to see if they looked down on free-thinking people, which they do. So I can easily make the judgement that Christianity is ****.

You've now judged and labeled the entirety of an extremely large group of people based on the fact that an insignificant online community banned you from their petty Internet message board; this is extremely close-minded and prejudiced.

I guess god lacks the power to send his followers to anger management classes

And you've labeled me and assumed that I'm religious just because I am open-minded, respect the views of other people, and defended the people who post on the BibleForums.org message board?

I'm actually agnostic, by the way. And all three of you have illustrated with your replies in this thread that some liberal atheists are just as close-minded and intolerant of the views of other people as some conservative religious zealots are.

Point out where the respect is hidden in this post of yours

You're a ****ing idiot; you don't actually want to post on the message board and did it just to get attention. Go *********e to your portrait of Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Respect for a person's right to believe doesn't equal respect for what they believe, as I stated in the thread dealing with christianity.

And for the record, I'm an independent. Political parties are nothing but wastes of time, and conservatives and liberals just want to **** the country in different positions

Mormons are the worst when it comes to religion based racism. There's a reason you never see black Mormons, ever.

Sorry, I've got to call BS on that one.

The Mormon church did indeed refuse Black men from holding the priesthood before 1978, supposedly based on some silly "blood of Ham" (the son of Noah) ridiculousness, but black people were still allowed to join the Mormon church even though they couldn't hold the priesthood. Since 1978, the LDS church has canceled that policy and allowed black people to hold the priesthood. Despite the history of racial exclusion, there are quite a few black Mormons these days although you don't see too many in Utah because it's just so damn boring there. Here in Atlanta there are several Mormon congregations that are mostly African American, and I personally know a local black Mormon bishop (leader of an entire congregation) who is a former gang-banger from Alabama.

So yeah, American Mormons are pretty lily-white in general, but certainly not all of them. Plus, over half the international membership of the LDS church is actually from Central and South America these days.

I wasn't aware of the change of heart, but in the Book of Mormon it talks about non-whites being impure, and talks about white people being "delightful and white".

No, I just don't tolerate close-minded and prejudice people. Which clearly the Bible advocates. Not only that Christianity is all about saving yourself. Ask any Christian what Christianity is about they will probally say "salvation". They're not helping the homeless, or the sick just because it's the right thing to do; they do it because they think they'll get rewarded for it when they die. Why else would someone believe some of the things it says in the Bible?

Oh yeah - that's all in there. In the Book of Mormon the "evil" race of Lamanites were dark-skinned (although they were supposedly more like South American natives than African people), and there's all this stuff about how they turned "white and delightsome" when they repented and got baptized. Of course the Mormons claim today that by "white" the Book of Mormon actually meant "pure", but the Mormons back in the mid-1800's were quite surprised when they baptized Native Americans and they didn't turn "white" like the scriptures said. Ha -- suckers.

I don't feel bad about it. You beat me though, mine came from Italy too New York in the early 1900's.

Agreed. A lot of people don't understand this and I wish they did.

Addendum, I just noticed the quote in your signature and I'm sorry for criticizing you. Thomas Jefferson is one of my favorite historical, political figures and I agree with a lot of his viewpoints; I actually consider myself to be a "classical, Jeffersonian Republican."

The comment you first said, which led to my comment, just simply reeked of typical christian behavior- the comments said by a person that does not hold to certain beliefs, riles up the believer so much that they lose control of their emotions and can only compose a response that reads like an angry 7 year old whose mother refused to get that toy that caught their eye

Haha -- that cartoon from "The God Makers" cracks me up every time I see it. While there is some actual truth about weird Mormon beliefs there, "The God Makers" was put together by Evangelical Christians to smear the Mormons, so not surprisingly there's a lot of misleading and wrong info there too.

There's nothing in Mormon scripture that says that God had sex with the Virgin Mary, that Joseph Smith is more important than Jesus, that all good Mormons will have polygamous marriages in the afterlife, or that Mormons have to divorce their spouses if they're not Mormon. The usual mix of some facts , some theory, and lots of BS that you get when one crazy religion starts slamming another.

LOL! I understand.:yay:

Most of the stuff is believed by the more fundamentalist Mormons. Thought the Latter Day's have softened up a bit.

^ Yah, the fundies are pretty scary. Some of the fundie polygamous clans homeschool their kids to believe that dinosaur bones were put on earth by Satan to test our faith and that man never walked on the moon.

Fundies, I love that term, you read World War Z too huh? :cwink:

^ I actually heard the word "fundies" a long time ago from atheists arguing against Christians online, but yes - I read "World War Z" too. Great book! Hope the upcoming movie does it justice.

It better, because if done right it might just be the best movie ever.

I still say that the interview-based anecdotal structure of World War Z would have worked better as an HBO series or mini-series, but I'm still hoping for a great movie as well.

It might be cool to just reinact the accounts, I wanna see a zombie get lobo'ed damn it! :cmad:
