Here are the first couple of pages of the Fantastic Four script Max Landis submitted to Fox, but they turned down.

If I can't post this, sorry, please delete. But since he is sharing it out to the world, thought is would be ok.

Does anyone get the sense that Max Landis is promoting himself at Josh Trank's expense?

Not that I think it makes him a bad person, but he seems to be getting a lot of attention online now with a new film about to come out due to his previous association with Josh Trank.

Eek

It's better than Fant4stic.

But that's a low bar. It has its positives, but Landis isn't my kind of writer when it comes to adaptation. He seems more interested in doing "____ on acid" rather than a solid adaptation. If you ever want to question the need for humanity, try reading a few pages of his Mario... um, "epic"...

IIRC, Luigi shot somebody.

I think Warner Bros. did it once, but isn't it a bad idea to write a feature spec script on a licensed property?

Like studio people don't want a spec script on some existing property?

I can't believe Chronicle was as good as it was with these two morons in charge.

I actually liked it.

It reminds me of Guardians in the type of humor and tone. I wish I could read the whole thing.

Seemed pretty entertaining to me.

Didn't care for Chronicle, though I've never been big into the whole "found footage" gimmick.

The closest I've come to really liking one was Cloverfield.

I think Landis is a *****ebag. I don't like man-child Trank but Landis isn't any better. American Ultra still looks like a lot of fun.

Max Landis is the worst. THE WORST.

He went to a party with a beard and left. He came back beardless because he thought nobody recognized him.

And he's the most obnoxious, awful person from what I've learned on Twitter. And this is all in public at cons and stuff.

Wait, seriously? :lmao:

To me, he seemed quite nice. We had a nice conversation about one of his scripts(Power Rangers). I wish I could see that in action.

He's either a guy you love or hate as he's said multiple times. I've watched pretty lengthy interviews with him talking about the film industry, etc, etc and I love the guy, he's very loud, animated, enthusiastic, knows his stuff as well, not surprised he irks so many people.

Maybe it is because that script had a bit of humour to it, but it sounded better than what we got!

Just depends if the delivery of the humour was as flat as Fan4stic.

Better than what we got is an extremely low bar.

I wrote this 20 years ago http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?t=483911 and I, personally, think it's better than either the film or this script, but I still don't think it's as good as it could or should be to compete with what we're seeing these days.

Reed saying "Oh, Shi-" after realizing he is on a open mic :csad:

Yes, and that he is always trying to be "cool" with his carefree takes on material (like the Super Mario treatment).

It's like he is begging to be accepted as a fan of something to land a project

I mean I think LAndis is a pretentious tool too.

But people really need to learn to separate the people from the art is a lot of cases. I think this seemed pretty good.
