I think that is a really good picture.

Oh, dear. I can hear the discourse coming already. I'm outta here. :csad:

I kinda wish they wouldve kept his face in shadow like in the comics, couldve been more interesting & mysterious.

Okay. So he does show his face. It's a great picture, though.

Yep, and he looks badass. The classic Octopus gloves are a nice touch. Thank you for posting this.

I didn't notice the gloves. Wow, that's a really great touch, then.

"All right, now Samuel, I want you to enter her from behind."

This movie will be amazing. I'm glad their releasing it early...

The tentacle design on his jacket is great. And it's cool to see Frank integrating his drawing style into the film's costume design with those gloves. Sam is Sam, and he looks like a badass.

I honestly can't get my head around why there is so much negativity surrounding this movie from the fans. Everything that's been released looks fantastic. Just take a look at the cast for Christ's sakes. Not to mention an honest-to-goodness comic book LEGEND is sitting in the director's chair.

I think it looks cool but isn't the Octopus always suppose to be mysterious?

The press release says "Samuel L. Jackson is The Spirit's arch-enemy the Octopus, a mysterious super-villain that kills anyone unfortunate enough to see his face."

well, just cause we see his face on the cover of a magazine doesn't mean that we will be seeing a whole lot of it in the film. I think he looks good, the jacket, the gloves, the guns, all look good

Maybe they will hide his face? I'd be a happy camper..

One look at that and I can see why everyone who sees his face never lives hahaha :hoboj:

just playing.

Two things.
- Isn't the Octopus' tradmark the fact that you never see his face?
- In the comic you can see his wrist and he appears to be white

We, the audience can probably see him while the characters surrounding him in his world would be killed for witnessing him.

never read the comic.. so i dunno how he's suppossed to look like

with that said.. he looks ok i guess.

Like Wilson from Home Improvement? HA!

- How would a magazine justify "showing off" Sam Jackson as the Octopus and yet not show his face? They have to show it on promo stuff like this, but I'd guess we won't be seeing a whole lot of it in the movie, and those present to see it will probably be killed.

- The portrayal of blacks in the Spirit is less than favorable. It would be hard to make a movie that wouldn't be outrageously offensive and yet maintain the racial stereotypes present in the Eisner original. I have no problem with a black Octopus, but Sam Jackson kinda just plays Sam Jackson these days, he gets so many roles and never acts that differently. Oh well.

-IDK it just doesn't seem right to show his face. In promos they should show him in the darkness and just show his hands. I understand what you're saying but its like (if you watched the inspector gadget cartoon when you were growing up) on the cartoon they never showed dr. claw's face. But then, when the live action movie came out, they showed it and it ruined the mystery surrounding him. I think octopus will be less mysterious since you can see his face.

- I never thought about it like that, I suppose you have a point of why they chose samuel l. for octopus. Lol, I wish they would've kept ebony white in it, though. I just think miller would be best to stick with the comics as much as possible.
