Forget Rodrigo, what the hell did they do to Xerxes?

This is what he looked like in other movies:

If Spartans can look like Spartans how come Persians cant look like Persians?

Well the Spartans didn't dress like that in battle either. Both teh Spartans and the Persians look like they did in teh book 300, and that's all we can really ask for.

The Spartans in the movie do not look like Spartans. The looks of both the Persians and the Spartans are based off of the book, not history.

DEAR ZEUS what has Frank Miller done too your HEROS!!!!!!!!!

That Persian history guy that was pissed that the Persians were going to be portrayed as villians should be REALLY pissed that Xerxes is being showned as fetish freak reject!!!!!!

This movie is fiction, it is only BASED on the real events.

It would be interesting to hear what he thinks... because he had a valid concern!!

Lady Leonidas :xmen:

I must say Persians without beard were unheard of at the time. And Xerxes, who was a great emperor, was not like that.

One thing to note, is that the Persian empire which lasted 100s of years until Alexander was one which was considerred beneficial by most as regions were empowered and much of the power was decentralised.

The Greeks were a bunch of loosely connected city states.

The battle of Thermopalie (I know the spelling is wrong) was made possible due to the geographic loaction which did not allow the 300 soldiers to be encircled. The valor of the Spartans is not under question and they had the best hoplites of their time.

Anyways, the graphic novel is pure fiction and should be taken as such. However knowing the general movie going audience, you just know some will take it as history rather than fiction very loosely based on an historical event.

BWAHAHAHAHAH! He is supposed to be Xerxes?! Wanna see what he really looked like? (an actual sketch of him)

Haha, that is funny, and Persian's never dressed half-naked. They would keep the palace cool and comfortable and what's with the piercings?

The movie does not purport to be a historical document, or accurate in more than the loosest sense. It's based on a highly stylized comic book.
What's so frackin' hard to understand about this concept?

Yeah, from what I understand, essentially Miller took the basic idea of the Battle--the king of Sparta and 300 of his royal bodyguards against a great portion of the Pursain army--and then twisted some parts to make it his own.

I think the [spoilers for those who haven't read the book] traitor of the Spartans in the book wasn't an actual disfigured "Spartan," either. I remember hearing something like that. [end spoiler]

Hehe, he looks like the guy from The Mummy... no, not the Rock, the other one, the bald one...

Whatever. I'm watching this for half-naked Gerry.

 ....... are you completely clueless as to what this movie is?

I posted before reading the rest of the thread. I didn't know this was based on a comic.
