Each of these individual topics are too small for a thread. However, putting these topics together in one thread would make one good thread.

1.) As some of you may be aware, Batman Begins directed by Christopher Nolan had a realistic take to the movie. There were little, if any, CGI, and Batman's tools are within the realm of possibility. Happy Hogan once said Iron Man is "like one of us and one of them [superhuman]". This meant that Iron Man is the most human of all superheros. Would the Iron Man movie has a realistic take?

Admittingly, I did not notice the realistic take in Batman Begins when I first watched it. However, I began to notice and appreciate the realistic take after I read reviews on this board. I prefer a realistic take in Iron Man because Iron Man's technology is within our realm of possibility.

2.) Tony Stark would build Iron Man 1.0 in Afghanistan. The reason Tony is in Afghanistan was to build a power generator that would aid the US and Canadian war effort in Afghanistan. Would this movie has any pro-war connotations to it?

Even though it would be politically correct to remain neutral in this movie because Iron Man will be dealing with a (presumably) Chinese orginated Mandarin, I would like some tributes to the troops in Afghanistan. Like a shot of soldiers aiding Afghan civilians or comments about the lack of freedom the Afghans had before Operation Enduring Freedom.

3.) Is anyone concerned about the lack of progress and lack of news about this movie? Key characters have yet to be casted and the director himself is asking US for suggestions? You are the director, you direct, we watch.

I am really concerned about this movie. Watching this movie is the only thing I long for currently and I will be very upset if the movie resulted in Batman and Robin.

4.) Some people are unhappy about casting Robert Downey. Jr as Tony Stark. They cited his look and his age as reasons RDJ shoud not be Stark. However, have you people ever heard to makeup and costumes designs?

5.) What other Marvel superheros could have a cameo in Iron Man?

Oh wait, Paramount Picture does not have any other Marvel superhero movies.

3. In short, no. The suit and the special effects are going to be the star of the film, and I assume that that is what they are working on first and foremost, so that they have enogh time to perfect it.

Favreau asking for fan input in casting is of little consequence, as he hasn't acted on any fan suggestions as of yet. No one stumped for Downey or Howard until after they were rumored, and then officially announced. It's also good PR for the film, which is primarily why he's doing it. And I'm not concerned that actor for the other roles haven't been announced, because it doesn't mean they're not already cast.

4. Makeup and costumes won't get it done in this case. Downey is too old and too haggard looking for Tony Stark. He may give a great performance and win me over with how he portrays the character, but he doesn't match the Tony Stark from the comics. Howard, I can live with, but he doesn't match Rhodey very well either. I don't expect movie Rhodey to be much like the comic version, honestly.

5. The film is being distributed through Paramount, but thefilm is being made by Marvel. Characters from established franchises (Spider-Man, Daredevil, X-Men, etc.) can't appear, but if Marvel wanted to throw in a characters whose rights they own, Nick Fury for example, they could.

that would be pretty cool having a seen in the movie where he went aboard the shield helicarrier and we see a bunch of cameos by heros not in movies as of yet like nick, black widow, spiderwoman, hawkeye, ect.ect.

and i agree the suit and fx are going to be the key to knocking this one out of the park but that isnt to say that the acting wont also be crucial.

and rdj is too old and in recent films his acting hasnt been good at all so im a truely worried about the decision to cast robbie. but there isn't much i could do about it. and whos to say that they dont have a younger version of stark bieng held prisoner and making the first suit, and then moving forward into stark enterprises as a word wide corparation with an older tony at the helm also running around in a tin suit
