I work in a sports-oriented call center...and I don't care for sports.

Every so often some people do a group order for jerseys. I finally did one for the NY Jets with "Flash" as the name. Number 18 from the film's promo poster (Google it)

Thor's spiritual predecessor.

That was a joke

Seen it. Own it. Love it.

I liked it. One of my friend's is a huge fan and finally got me to watch it.

A great example of cheesy fun. Can't go wrong with the soundtrack being done by Queen.

It's terrible. It's also brilliant.

I like it, because it's impossible to dislike, but technically it's a bad movie.

For a start, Mike Hodge is the director. Mike Hodge-! Good director, not even remotely suited to space opera. It's like Michael Mann directing Star Wars.

Second, Sam Jones looks perfect for a comic strip hero, but the script does him no favours. Flash Gordon is supposed to be the epitome of heroism, commanding, brave, noble, a leader of men, able to outrun, outfight and outthink everybody. This Flash is clueless and stumbles from one cliffhanger to the next needing constant saving by others. This Flash is just a guy who happens to be at the centre of events, standing next to charismatic figures of the dashing Timothy Dalton and the boisterous Brian Blessed.

The Flash Gordon serials are wonderful and superior in every way.

I also urge everyone to check out the original Alex Raymond Flash Gordon comic strips, they are some of the most beautiful, elegant and imaginative comics even created.

I appreciate the lightheartedness of the movie, but I think it's a bad movie and not very enjoyable. Yep, the serial are better.

This was an HBO classic in the 80s. It's terrible, but I've seen it a million times anyway. :oldrazz:

You know the script was written by a writer from the old Batman TV series. Funny thing, I watched the mini-docs on the DVD, and he made a comment like "This was supposed to be my Star wars. Flash Gordon was supposed to be over the top, so I wrote it that way. Same way I wrote Batman, Batman is campy, so I wrote him as campy."

I was like, you probably haven't read a Batman comic in years, have you?

That scene at the end, where the floating robot orb tells flash to have a nice day, then Flash jumps in the air, screams "YEAH!!!" and it freeze frames, as the Queen music kicks in, is cinematic gold.

Flash!! Aaaaaahhaaaaa! Savior of the universe!

Its Cheese classic.

Awesome Queen soundtrack and Brian Blessed yelling like a mad man!
good times!

It's Cheetos chessy.

I like it... the winning ingredient is the Queen music.

And there are at least 2 scenes that are ripped out of Star Wars. Brilliant stuff.

One of my fav line :

Klytus: Bring me... the bore worms!
Princess Aura: No! Not the bore worms!

Ornella Muti looked ( and still ) good.

Seen it, own it, love.
Max Von Sydow is fantastic in it!

Seen it...back in the 80s. Quite entertaining for its day. I wonder what I would think about it now?

Great fun....loved it for years. I'm glad they put out a decent DVD copy a couple of years ago.
