I might be in the minority on this, but I'm actually more of a fan of both Kyle Rayner and Wally West than I am Hal Jordan and Barry Allen. So, I'd like to see them in the team-up film. This is just me, though. I know Hal/Barry was a far more common team-up and more iconic in regard to the comic, but I just think Kyle and Wally are better characters overall. Heck, I'd even be for using Hal Jordan as Parallax as the film's villain!

Just wanna say, totally called it:
Anyway, I'm not so sure anymore about tying things in with the Arrow/Flash TV-verse (although who knows where things'll be in 2017). I do still like the idea of teaming Hal and Barry and introducing John Stewart in the same movie (granted that was when I was projecting this pre-JL, but still).
The Manhunters might make a good adversary for that, maybe with a couple of Flash rogues in smaller roles. There's a lot they could do there, even if the bulk of the action is on Earth.

I think Gorilla Grodd makes a fitting adversary for both, especially taking over some GL foes, perhaps even some Green Lanterns.
Gorilla Grodd is similar to Hector Hammond, a mind controlling villain, something different is needed.
I feel you, I really do, but those days are long gone with the 90s.
You don't have to apologize to this Kyle Rayner fanatic. There are two things I want most out of comic book movies before this boom period ends: Eddie Brock done correctly and for Kyle to make his silver screen debut. I think audiences, particularly the 18-34 demo, would adore Kyle.
Yet we all know that Hal and Barry are the tent poles of their respective franchises. Hopefully, the Flash TV series is received well. That could lead to Wally's introduction and Hal's reintroduction. If so, we could eventually see the Flash Dynasty and the GLC beyond just Hal featured in films. However, we're probably talking about a decade or so before that happens.![]()
I may be in the minority with this but I would have preffered Flash and GL to be seperate movies.

Given DC's "grounded" approach to things, I have a hard time picturing them using a super-intelligent gorilla for a villain.
I'm sorry but these are my least favorite type of posts. So many people here lack imagination, which is surprising given the website we're on.Making Grodd a compelling threat against a Flash and Green Lantern team-up and keeping him at all subtle and grounded would be a tall order. It just seems like an unnecessary big risk for them to take. Virtually nobody's going to reject this movie, in the short term or otherwise, because it doesn't have Grodd, so why not pick a villain that's easier to adapt?
If we see Gorilla Grodd at all, I'd say it's more likely in something like Shazam, self-contained (by all appearances) and more kid-oriented.

do you know what planet of the apes is?
Gorilla Grodd is not that far out of an idea, audiences have been warmed up to the idea of super intelligent apes for decades. Telepathy and super intelligent apes aren't new concepts, but combining them... that is a new concept. and it can be done well. there is no doubt in my mind that Grodd can easily be pulled off quite well.
I'm not sure "ideal" is the right word. "Passably adequate" seems more in the range. It really depends on if JLA can rejuvenate/introduce the characters sufficiently, and even then, you need there to be *recognized* chemistry between them. Its several long shots stacked on top of each other.
