The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Flash Thompson

He just graduated man. I really want an adult Parker. I can't support marvel's idea of a younger Parker. And by that I mean that I cannot support Marvel's idiotic ways to make spiderman feel younger like selling his marriage to the devil instead of a divorce

I agree about letting him age, i would have hoped for Spider-Man 4 to do that instead of buying time and staying in university so long. The thing is that one of the reasons they stated for rebooting was to use the high school timeframe from Peter's life, so it was a little weird to change them moving on so quickly, kind of a waste in my opinion.

I don't know how they wanna connect Sinister Six and ASM3 but I'd like to see some bigger gap between "2" and "3", at least 3 or 4 years so we'll see an adult Peter.

That's the thing about progression, why rush Peter into an adult

I don't think you need adult Peter to fight the sinister 6 though

The said that one of the ideas why they rebooted was to go back to high school and use it to its potential, seems weird to see them leave it right in the 2nd film, they only bought time for another movie in this case.

"We're making this closer to the source material, Peter will stay in high school...for like a movie and a quarter."

Lizard comes from Oscorp
Norman dies, Harry is the first Goblin, and is evil
"The Osborn curse"
Gwen dies at a clock tower
Electro comes from Oscorp and is upset because Spider-Man doesn't know his name Lol
S6 comes from Oscorp

Man, I'd love to know what series this film is pulling from.

That's one of my biggest gripes with this film. It really felt that they (Webb, Sony etc.) have no clue what they want to do with this series. This series feels like one big identity crisis. They don't feel secure about their initial vision at all. It's evident in the drastic tonal shifts, the sudden inclusion (and exclusion) of certain characters, the last minute editing of scenes that seemed important etc. Before TASM1, they talked about wanting it to be more "gritty". It's almost unbelievable how TASM2 ended up with that in mind. They just follow trends. The bad idea about this is that they will always be behind, while having no own identity.

Of course not, they made a drastically unnecessary reboot, whereas they could have:

A) **** Off and give Raimi that extra year he wanted...that they gave to Webb
B) Pulled a BF and make SM4 with different actors
C) Reboot because reasons

Glad we got the best option of the bunch.

I was checking some scenes from ASM1 and really like that more serious, darker tone. It's a pity that ASM2 is a completely different movie.

Personally I hope we won't see Sinister Six in ASM3. Instead I'd use some grounded villains like Kraven, Chameleon, Sin Eater or Hammerhead. Basically... Spidey against the mob.

I think they rebooted because they saw the success it did to the Batman franchise, unfortunately they're just jumping on trends. There are problems in Raimi's film series, i won't deny that, even stuff that the studio doesn't mandate, like the fact that Peter's life doesn't realy progress much, i would actualy love it to have continued with him marrying and becoming a teacher like in the comics or something like that, but i won't act as if Raimi would have done that.

That said, those films had more of a personality and love put into them, Marc Webb excells at Romance, which is also integral to Spider-Man, but at the rest, he's being pushed into doing what the studio wants, not what is better overall.

I'm sure that if he had been given the time he wanted and allowed to tell the story he wanted to tell, as well as kept improving upon the set pieces in order to make them more and more impressive, the franchise would be in a much better spot at the box-office. Bryan Singer for example was allowed to come back to the franchise he started, and was given many more resources than he had in the previous film, the result was quite impressive.

I'm not sure Sony told him to create all those ridiculous Batman & Robin-like villains. :yay:

Bryan singer has been given a lot of trust and freedom, that's what Sony needs to do for Webb, back the hell off

At this point, would it matter? One averagely received film, a negative one with no hope for the next...would a really good third film even change the POV for ASM1/ASM2? Doubtful.

Okay, I know. Spidey's fallen quite a bit, but a good 3rd movie isn't going to make this franchise beloved or anything.....

That's right. With everything we witnessed in the original versions of both movies Marc would've helped Sony made alot more money and being more talked about than the avengers, WS, and DOFP if they hadn't mess with his work
