Of course the family didn't get justice, the victim was a black male. A lot of jurors will always believe the murderer of black young males if they are white or indenify as white. This scumbag guy still got away with murder. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets probation for the lesser charges he was convicted of.

I wouldn't live in Florida if it were the last place on earth.

Don't get me wrong, I do realize a number of times some "white" guys get off on murdering a black person or don't get the full punishment they deserve but at the same time I'm sick of the biased race card BS.

Some people need to open their eyes and see how many black on white crimes and murders there are as well...yet none of them get huge news stories...

yeah..I'm confused. The jury's all convinced he was attempting to murder people in the van by shooting multiple times at the van...one in the van died...there was no gun or credible evidence of any self-defense (if there were why would you convict on attempted murder)...but no murder conviction. I really hope it wasn't 2nd vs 1st degree that hung the jury. As long as he gets murder..who cares. What was going on the dissenting jury's mind...

The jury had no black men...only 2 black women out of 12...
4 white women and 4 white men. Prosecution?

Great technical victory...but moral one? nope.

These are the same stupid prosecutors from Zimmerman. They are horrible at their job.

I agree that black defendants don't always get off in such situations but in this case and the Zimmerman case, it broke news as a major story before the "white" guys got off the hook. Basically when they were still on trial, just about from the beginning.

White or people who claim to be white and get white people on their side tend to get lesser punishments for committing the same crimes as black people. I don't think any murderers should get away with their crimes because of race. I think everyone should get the same punishments for similar crimes.

My point wasn't that blacks are treated equally in these cases as whites, that's not true at all. My point was about the fact that there are rarely any breaking country wide news reports of black on white crimes like this. I find it kind of weird.

That would be because of the ridiculous "Stand Your Ground" law down in Florida. Though not technically used in either case, the defense was exactly that.

That dumb law basically makes it ok for white people in Florida to look at young black men and kill them for being black. All you have to do is "perceive" a threat and you can shoot someone. And well being young and black is a perceived threat to a racist gun carrying piece of ****.

Apparently, this guy showed no emotion in court. Didn't faze him at all.

Even if you kill someone in self defense, at least have the decency to feel affected in some way about it.

because there's no controversy. its a standard run of the mill conviction. even when the black defendant is innocent and cleared by DNA testing 2 decades later or police tampering mistake later.

In cases like these, the defendant gets internet funds and think tank support providing a defense.

I'm not even sure why this case is getting media attention. I could understand in Zimmerman...but not here. Guy fires gun at van filled of teenagers...no evidence teenagers instigated violence prior or after...
When I first read the description of case...I was like ..."where's the controversy, lock him up" why is there controversy? Because the defendant is white and the victim is black. When such obvious murder happens...why is there any roadblock to easy slam dunk conviction? What is standing in way of easy to deliver justice here? That's what you should be asking.

It is because of the Zimmerman trial and the ridiculous law in Florida. This wasn't a deal until after the Zimmerman trial. After that child murder got away with it.

While stand your ground wasn't used by Dunn, his lawyers did argue that he fired in self-defense.

Even without a final decision on that count -- and pending defense appeals -- the 47-year-old Dunn appears set to face a lengthy prison term.
Prosecutor Erin Wolfson explained Saturday night that each attempted second-degree murder conviction carries a minimum sentence of at least 20 years. There's also a 15-year sentence possible on the conviction for shooting in the teenager's vehicle.

The thing is this man will wonder all his life is if carrying his gun 24/7 saved him or damned him... He may never know. I feel as though if the jury could not convict him of 1st degree murder or a lesser charge...then perhaps there was evidence the teens "seemed" or presented some sort of threat at the time of the confrontation.

Earlier Saturday, Judge Russell Healey acknowledged that the jury of four white women, two black women, four white men, an Asian woman and a Hispanic man was "struggling, obviously."

There were NO black men on the jury at all? Interesting.

If you're referring to Zimmerman, he's not a murderer who got away with murder. He's a moron who got away with manslaughter because they tried to convict him of murder...but it was (incredibly negligent and aggravated) manslaughter.
