Gary Friedrich (co-creator of Ghost Rider) finally won his case in September and has reached a settlement with Marvel. This may end up for the favor of other creators of respected franchises. Can't remember if it's been posted or not.

Since the settlement was undisclosed, I'm going to say that Marvel just gave him money to go away.
