Former CEO discusses being reduced to delivering pizzas for 7.29/hr

$100,000 in credit card debt?!

Sucks. So, he went from nearly getting 1 million a year, to getting 500 bucks a month in foodstamps.

And really, its all his fault.

Shouldn't of left his comfy job to start his own (failed) company in this economy.

Normally, as anyone would say "i wish millionaire CEO's would see what its like for Joe-Six-Pack", but seeing this, I think I feel bad for the guy. Damn. Hate to be him.

Only thing that makes me feel somewhat bad for him is that he's got kids. However, why didn't that big @$$ house when they first started getting into trouble. Seems like the family is really bad at managing money. This story basically illustrates why some many financial institutions are in such bad shape, if guys like this are/were running the places.

Seconded on all points...

I feel bad for the kids, but it's what he gets for being a greedy punk.

@ AF: that's exactly what is was . . . bad money management; this guy started his own hedge fund co. 4 years ago . . . had nothing to do w/ the recession . . . he could have still had $250k in savings if he would have just lived in a modest house . . .

That's what gets me is when people are acting like we're not in a recession. But even if we weren't...what good is over-spending going to do no matter what the financial climate is?

I give him credit for swallowing his pride and delivering pizzas. I can't imagine that'd be an easy thing to do after making $750k per year.

Or had he not quit his job. Though Only God knows if he would have been laid off from that too.

Going from the kids buying clothes at Abercrombie and Fitch to the local swap-o-rama can't be good for the ol' morale....but what can ya do.

I was just going to say this. Far too many people would rather just live off the government, family, etc. instead of getting a job that they previously considered below them to put bread on the table. Whatever stupid things he did before, I gotta respect what he's doing now.

So I guess the question is...how do you actually go from THAT kind of job, to something on this level?

I know jobs are scarce, but it's not like there are no jobs in the world for someone with some kind of education, etc. There's got to be a better paying job out there than delivering pizzas, even if it's just customer service. Obviously there was no "You're overqualified" stigma at the lower levels of the job market. Unless we're to believe that only this pizza place would offer him a job...

But hey, if it's something you enjoy...

I'm wondering this too. The people that work under me don't always have degrees and they make upwards of 40K a year... Granted it's a far cry from 750K but just as far from 12K.

Even just like, a teleservice job...pays about twice that in most places.

Yeah and Customer Service Centers and Telephone Sales Centers are generally always hiring, they've got a reputation for revolving doors.

Okay....so these people were on 20/20 last night and one of their "friends" gives them 64,000 dollars.....

for their kid's private school tuition
WTF!?!...each kid's tuition is 32,000 dollars and he decides to pay for it. Why not give the money to the family instead and send those kids to public school?....I know its hard but geez, thats a waste of 64,000 dollars for a family's who's main income is coming from a man who makes 7.29 an hour. :o

Either he's incompetent and can't get a better paid job with his skills, has bad people skills and doesn't interview well, or, what i think is most likely the case, He's using this "being forced to work as a pizza boy" as a publicity stunt to land himself a higher paid job. (hoping it shows a willingness to work hard, accept any challenges, provide for his family at all costs etc.)

It's a bit of a gamble, but it may pay off -
(although his previous gambling record isn't great. And certainly isn't the responsible "family provider" move)

What a responsible person would have done would have been to sold the massive house early on (when the business trouble started) and started to boost his income with part time work to stay afloat. Taken the kids to a public school (But i think everyone should go to public schools anyway, equality and all that) and limited his spending on everything (how the hell do you rack up a $100 000 credit card debt when you know you're unemployed..)

Damn straight - if his friends giving him $64K - that'd halve his credit card debt. or taks a nice chunk off his mortgage...

Well, technically he sat on his fat arse for 4 yrs... it's quite a step up from nothing.

Basically my biggest problem with this is how he's crying poverty when he's still living like a rich man. He lives in a mansion, he's obviously still spending big - And he's still clearly eating more than a poor person.

Yeah because only rich people are fat :whatever:

Sweet! Good to know Karma sill works.

The only thing that will make this better is if when he is delivering a pizza some one drags him into their place, & rapes him. That would make my day!
