if you watch x-men (2000) it shows so much life to what could been a good franchise, then comes X2 and that was a huge hit and FOX wanted a solo wolverine movie and wanted to get X-men 3 out the way to do so which gave us a very confusing ending to the trilogy (idiots)

then it looked like they were gonna go for X-men origin movies, which ended up being only for wolverine, which makes the title "X-men origins" abit odd now looking at it

now we got X-men first class which sounds like a prequel to X-men (2000), no "X-men origins" included in the title so far, and it dont seem to link to X-men origins: Wolverine at all

now we also hear Wolverine 2 will be called "THE WOLVERINE" and it will be a stand alone movie unlinked to the previous X-men franchise am i right? which made all that talk about how the wolverine movies will link up to X-men (2000) just a load of bull

then we got deadpool that sounds like it will also be a stand alone movie (if it happens) and not linked to the wolverine movie because they messed up

its a shame we couldnt of had a well linked up Xmen universe

As it stands... I think FOX are currently making the best of a bad situation.

The Wolverine as a standalone with Darren Aronofsky is the most sensible decision they have made in a long time.

With First Class... time will tell, but it could certainly work.

Sadly... the X-men franchise just hasn't gotten over the loss of Bryan Singer when he abandoned ship, squealing like a fanboy. (But I guess you can't really blame him).

I agree about The Wolverine. Best decision I have seen them make. The only reason I think it will be great though is Aronofsky, not because its a stand alone. Darren will overcome foxes suck.

I've given up on the X-men as long as they are owned by Fox. They may suprise me and i'll still go see it but i'm no optimistic about it.

It sucks to because the X-men have always been my favorite.

Fox already messed up trying to maintain links with previous movies and stuffing mutant cameos just to please the fans rather than them being part of a plot. Now they seem to be doing the exact opposite. Only time will tell if it’s a good thing.

X-Men 3 is a fun film, Singer left to do his boring version of Superman. I know which one I would rather watch.

Comics have stand alone stories/comics/arcs or whatever, why can't movies?

I kind of agree.

Fox dont seem to be a studio with a good plan since day one.

They seem to decide to make a new movie because they dont want to loose the rights, so after that first decision, they start to discuss about what they can do with what they have, or if its better to change their "direction" and shoot a movie that wasnt expected by the general audience and fans.

This is what happens when you churn out crappy movies. They are calling the Wolverine sequel The Wolverine to distance themselves from the travesty that was X-Men Origins: Wolverine. They are also making First Class a prequel to X1 and X2 while leaving out continuity from much of X3 and all of Wolverine. The last thing you want to do when making a new movie is to connect it to a terrible past movie. They are doing the same with the Deadpool script by distancing it as far away from Origins as they can.

Fox was really the stand alone studio for terrible quality decisions regarding their franchises. However, WB and Sony have made some stupid decisions in recent years. But, Fox still is the king of horrible studios.

I wish they would do crossover movies like they did in the 50's with the monster movies. Just like Dracula meets the Woilfman, you could have Hulk/Wolverine or Spiderman and the X-Men. But that ain't gonna happen.

Not as long as different studios own different rights. You won't see crossovers until one studio, Marvel, has all their heroes back.

but the last stand and wolverine were not technically failures, they made money and thats all FOX care about, although they got mixed reviews i doubt it was a big deal in there future decisions

i honestly think they made wolverine which was a sure bet to make money and then they had no idea what to make next, which character to explore and didnt want to risk putting money into any others

either that or they realised they messed so many characters up in the last stand and wolverine

Bingo. :down

I hope First Class is the beggining of a new Fox era.

I'm torn.

I love X-men and would love to see it done right.

I would also like for Marvel to get it back and the only way that will happen is if it bombs horribly.

I kind of feel like we'll suffer more in the long term if fox keeps the rights.

Hey Everyone. 1st post here. I agree with the fact that FOX has dropped the ball so to speak on the X-Men property. I just hope they don't drop the ball on Deadpool. He is such a coveted character to me.
