Fright Night remake

I always liked the practical effects used in the original especially the scene with the melting man & Evil Ed as a wolf hope they have scenes like those in this movie without using a ton of cgi. What would you have called the melting man in the original, he definitely wasn't a vampire. Would have loved to have seen a prequel to the original movie.

^^ There actually was a sequel. It ran out of print shortly after it was releasd on DVD. I saw it and I actually thought it was really good. Not as good as the original, but good. It was directed by Tommy Lee Wallace, director of Halloween III, etc.

i would call him a ghoul. like a Renfield, fly-eater type.

One of the best things about the original was the score. I hope this remake's measures up.

This looks pretty awesome. Even the presence of Colin Ferrel isn't putting me off.

I have never seen the original.

OK WT, then I think you'd be doing yourself a favor if you didn't watch the original until after you see the remake. Otherwise it might negatively effect how well you enjoy the remake if it's not as good(always a possibility considering how good the original is).

Fright Night was first horror movie I 'liked' as a kid. Before that, every horror flick I saw (as well as Disney's Pinocchio) gave me terrible nightmares, and I wanted Stephen King dead. :woot: So Fright Night holds a special place in my heart.

And now a remake is coming out? They better get the tone right...

I've tried to watch Fright Night Part II but it's so dull...

^^ Really? I found it to actually be pretty decent. It's not as good as the first, but it's different.

Fright Night 2 is one of those sequels that's not bad on it's own but it doesn't measure up to the first.

Yeah. I have it on DVD, got lucky at Baltimore Comic Con and came across it. It's good, but it's nowhere near as good as the first.

You really should see the original, Tango. it's a great film.

It's been sitting in my netflix queue forever. I saw a couple other 80's horror flicks for the first time that I thought were pretty cheesetastic (Prince of Darkness and Hellraiser) and I ended up disappointed so I bumped it to the bottom of the list. I do think I'd rather wait and see the new one first tho.

^^ I never found Prince of Darkness to be that cheesy. I mean, I think it's one of John Carpenter's most underrated movies.

It's gonna keep sitting there on your queue, it was on mine for a while like that. It's out of print and unless the remake puts it back in print, your only hope is finding it at a convention or a yard sale or some ****.

^^ Yup. I had it on my queue for months until I decided to to just find it online.

I never saw Prince of Darkness. I'm mostly a classic horror/monster movie kind of guy(vampires, werewolves, mummies, King Kong & giant sharks, etc.). When you start getting into possessions & slasher/stalkers, demonic stuff and torture porn then I get bored(and often grossed out). What I like about classic horror was that it was usually character based. And that's what I liked about Fright Night. Jerry Dandrige was a helluva vampire villain.

^^ Really? I love the old mosnter films, but slashers are my favorite. Mostly the 70's and 80's horror stuff. I hate the troture porn stuff, but everything else listed I like.

Slashers are just too character-light for my tastes. It's just all about "Where's he hiding and how's he gonna kill'em this time?". Pretty weak and kinda cheap for my tastes. Jaws is my favorite film of all time for a reason. It's ALL about character/story.

^^ Yeah, but that's what makes them fun. I think it's stupid how people want an in depth character driven film for every movie they watch. What about just having fun some times? Maybe it's my horror passion ocming out, considering it is my favorite gnere.

Scream franchise says hello by the way. Slasher films with developed characters.
