I just saw this report and my mind is completely blown. They've been advertising it all through Spring lol it seems like a completely idiotic decision to me.

Ridiculously stupid. The marketing is already in full swing

I know, a year to six months before release makes sence, but a month? With the hype and marketing materials out there already? Just to make extra money via 3D?

Me and my dad were prepared to see this one, mostly because we both thought the previous one was inaccurate beyond belief. I know the cast was all geared up to promote it and everything. Paramount just couldn't resist not letting it go. That is what gives 3D a bad name, when it's done just for revenue.

This literally blew my mind. They've already spent half the marketing budget promoting the film already. A mess.

WrestleMania!

Rock vs Brock

Brought to you and sponsored by G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation

I guess after Battleship they lost any faith they had in this film.

It makes no sense to me either. If they had announced it a few months back, I wouldn't be so surprised -- but this is a freaking month before release.

Paramount, you should've pushed the movie out of summer and into the fall. Not every film needs a 3D conversion.

I mean the competition is incredibly strong though. Despite there being some misgivings when it comes to TASM it'll still be a strong competitor in the BO and then add TDKR to the mix as well.

I don't really blame Paramount for changing the release date.

I thought it was a joke at first. Maybe if it was delayed until Christmas or something it'd be less shocking, but it's almost an entire year delay lol. \

Makes me wonder if Paramount is afraid it'll pull a Battleship.

It wasn't, mostly because the cast had some bigger names. The Rock and Bruce Willis in the same flick....it wasn't going to bomb.

Must be an awful movie. They're probably waiting for The Rock's schedule to open so they can reshoot the hell out of it.

It's a spin story.

But the thing is
1) this is a month before release
2) the marketing already kicked off. TV spots, trailers, theatrical posters, etc.
3) If not in 3D i think the movie couldve been a non 3D option when going to the movies

Yeah it does put it in a spot with less competition (at first I thought the next Hunger Games was coming out in March and I thought the move was much worse), but still if they were gonna do it, they shouldve done it much earlier

Stunned right now.

Another theory...what if they want to add Channing Tatum back into the film, considering the guy has been having a really good year this year...

I'm pretty sure this move has more to do with The Avengers, Spider-Man, and Batman then it does with 3d conversion.

With GI Joe, the site Playlist stated on twitter that it's possible that Paramont wanted reshoots including a certain character to survive his death since that certain actor is getting popular. Hint: He likes to step it up to 21 Jump Street.

Makes sense. Dude's been on a role as of late....

Problem with this is that the Rock is quite busy at the moment. Shooting Pain and Gain, then Fast Six, then Hercules, and then possibly Lobo.

How do they do this if indeed they want to put Tatum back into the film?

Stupid. Absolutely stupid. Poor Jon Chu. He probably has absolutely no say in this and the movie was looking pretty phenomenal

At the same time, it doesn't warrant for the film to be pushed back when it's being advertised on national tv, billbaords, ect.
It's too late for them to pull something like this despite of him being popular.

I think the idea is that they want to leave a window big enough for him to work in. It depends on Channing's schedule, really.

But yeah, it seems like Jon Chu has NO say, and this will affect the film for sure. Especially part 3. I do hope that maybe Scarlett can come back in one form or another. We shall see. But this is bad news. It shows that Paramont has no faith in the film because moving a film a month away from it's release is NOT normal.
