G.I. Joe Rise Of Cobra possibly in huge trouble

I could always pay to see another movie then sneak into Transformers.

nah, that way Bay doesn't get my money for a half-assed movie.

You might as well take it another step and pay someone to see it for you and take notes.

Yeah. If he's worried about buying a ticket contaminating his integrity, imagine how bad actually watching it would be. Better to hire some unsuspecting guinea pig to handle all the icky parts for him.

Yeah Bay won't get my money.

I'll critique the movie though.

Which one is Brawl and which one is Bonecrusher?

Bonecrusher is a tan/beige tow truck dealie.

He looks like this when he transforms.

Here's Brawl:

See how one's beige, and one is green? How one is a little more elongated, and has wheels for feet, and the other...

The point is, it's possible to tell these things apart. You might not be able to tell which one is named what without knowing their name beforehand and remembering that somehow, but again, the same could be said of the dozens and dozens of Transformers in the comics and the cartoon.

The whole "human reaction" thing could be covered in the 25 minutes. You can't really stretch it out 2 entire movies.

The fact remains...it's already been one whole movie (two now). Hence, all the important themes of Transformers haven't gotten their facetime, and were never going to. Granted, I don't think Bay was ever planning on delving into many of the aspects of Transformers that feature non human elements, but the point stands, it wouldn't have been terribly possible or realistic to believe such a film was going to have existed, given this approach.

what conveys their human-like aspirations and struggles is their Transformer to Transformer interactions. Something that has lacked terribly so far in the movies.

Short of "basic character interaction", can you elaborate?

Few if any elements have been explored. In between human shenanigans the movie relegates into a big, dumb, loud chase movie.

Themes about sacrifice, hidden potential, leadership, teamwork, cooperation, compromise, legacies, responsibility and loyalty have been touched on and explored. The anti imperialism angle is there, to a point. They've also delved into the very nature of the transformations, and a number of other things. So yeah...I wouldn't call that "few" elements of Transformers lore, nor would I say these are unimportant elements, either.

not sure what you're referring to here.

I'm not sure what you were referring to. I'm sure it'll come up again if it's important.

LOL, that Lorenzo statement was the most funnily obvious thing I ever heard. Did anybody really expect him to say anything different? if it's true or not did anybody really expect him to come out with it and admit it in the open and hurt his career and the movie's chance? This is Hollywood people. The land of fabrication and appearances. Have you ever noticed how every actor or director latest movie is always their best work or their favorite. It's all about the marketing. LOL. Not saying the rumors are true, just saying that what Lorenzo said changes nothing and should be taken as serious as the rumor itself.

It's all about the source. The person who wrote the original statement had an agenda against Bonaventura, so that means we should assume it's false unless we hear otherwise from someone higher up the chain. It's unwise to assume that sensationalist rumors might be true unless they site a valid source, because otherwise you can say anything about anyone.

Can we please stop discussing on Transformers and turn back our focus on how AWFUL G.I. Joe is going to be???!

:D

No. I am willing to turn back my focus to discussing how much ass it's gonna (hopefully) kick.

The key word is HOPEFULLY.
But only looking at the trailers and what is known it looks to be geared towards folks with the mentality of a low IQ 7 year old.
Besides, did they really have to hit that close to Team America? TM was spoofing exactly that kind of thing and G I Joe just goes all out and give it to them? I know, I know, the movie is not out yet but unless the trailers are giving a completely different idea of what the movie is about, which would be completely against what a trailer is for, everything is looking like a bad version of Team America. Since they have gone so far from the source material anyways, they should have called it Team America Live Action. At least when people watch it and have the urge to laugh it wouldn't be bad.

I think I've got a good idea of what the movie will be from the trailers, and I think it looks cool. I'm not sure if it'll be as good as Transformers, and I still reserve the right to hate it if the movie sucks, but I am looking forward to it. The only one of Sommers' movies I've seen that I thought was bad was Van Helsing, and I'm hoping Sommers learned his lesson about what does and doesn't work in a movie after that one.
