I hear ya, but...what's wrong with being witty?

o there's nothing wrong with being witty... but it seems almost expected these days in the gay community. and some people just arnt... i pull a good one every once in a while, but i know even myself in order for me to interest other guys or to stand out in a group i feel i gotta be as witty as everyone else.. and that really shouldn't be the case. It's definately ok to be witty, but people shouldn't feel like you have to be, and it shouldn't be a requirement of being gay either.

There is nothing worse than hanging around a bunch of attractive gay guys who often take turns ridiculing others for looking unattractive or having a little extra weight on them. Body image in the GLBT community has become so vain it truly is disgusting. One of my friends invited his gay roommate over to hang out with us, and within two minutes that roommate was making comments about those he saw on the quad whom he wouldn't ****. One guy, whom I knew, was an average guy, a little chunky but not incredibly unattractive. He said something along the lines of "If I bent him over I wouldn't know where to stick it," implying that his rolls look like ass cracks.

I, of course, have a body build like Jeb Bush, so I don't consider myself to be slim by any standards. But to hear that comment come out of his mouth was truly disturbing to me.

Another example, the best example, is on the show "Queer as Folk." On the first season DVD, there is a description of an episode where Ted dates an "overweight" chorus instructor. This character wasn't even close to fat, not a damn bit. Yet whoever wrote this show felt that the actor playing him was indeed overweight.

I truly do not get this mentality, where many gay men feel like being anorexic is the way to go and anyone with an ounce of body fat is repulsive. It kind of makes me lose faith in a part of this community.

Yeah, that's the problem I've had with most of the gay guys in AZ--a great many of them that I see are either not interested in me because of my weight, or a complete and utter ass-hole, mostly because of my weight. And I'm not even fat or medically overweight--I just have a pouch and I get s**ted on for it. :csad:

well i was just in AZ... and theres definately some cuties out there that are really nice... i hung out with this guy in chandler that was really sweet. hes a lil overweight... but mostly just a proportionally big guy... but a very cute face, and very sweet. He'd be a total hottie if he lost some weight, but he was still cute and i still liked him none the less.

and maskedman.... i also used the adam4adam site for meeting guys, i got messaged like crazy ... that never happens in LA.. so maybe your just not looking in the right places? or maybe your just not there type and your blaming it on weight? i dunno..

Either one is very possible. Never heard of Adam4Adam, I'll have to check that one out.

Thanks. :yay:

a4a is only good if youre looking for hook ups. Other than that, don't bother usin it.

I had such an amazing evening. Went out with this guy named Tolyan. He's Russian and so cute! He's only been taking English classes for a month now, so he can barely form a sentence but it just added to his cuteness. Spent the entire day walking all over the City and, well, learning english. I'd say something and he'd ask me what that was and I'd then explain it to him. It was epic.

HOLY HELL! THE HOTTIE IN THE HOTTIE THREAD IS YOUR MYSTERIOUS HOTTIE? WOW. JP

-kills caps-

He's a keeper. :wow:

He was so much fun, and totally not into him self like most guys who look like him. I can't wait till his english improves. :o

That does have to be an amazing thing to share with someone. Helping them to understand the new culture they are in.

haha its always interesting, ive met a few guys here that don't speak english well... and yeah guys from other countries seem to be much less big on themselves.

o lord i hate that too... sure im not attracted to very overweight, but i dont mind a lil chub. Id take a lil chub over a anorexic guy any day... I have friends out here who seem to think if there not slim and skiny there fat... even when they start gaining muscle at the gym, they start thinking there getting fat... i'm like WTF

I completely agree. I am not attracted to people who are extremely overweight, only because I consider it to be a serious personality flaw. If someone cannot take care of their themselves, if they cannot respect their own bodies, why should I even bother? My weight fluctuates during the year, between 195-205 pounds depending on the season (I can't work out in the summer, it is way too hot in DC and the air quality anywhere in the northeast kills my lungs)... but anyone who has a noticeable weight problem is unattractive to me. I'm not huge, but once you near the 200 lb threshold gay guys really start to get judgmental.

I've only dated skinny guys, though, so I think it shows that not everyone out there is extremely shallow... but those who are, truly have problems, especially when they think muscle or a little extra weight is obesity in action...

Seconded. One of my gay friends used that site, and says it's like a more formal Craigslist. He let me read some of the "offers" he got, they were actually pretty disgusting.

It's amazing. Well, the fact that he thinks I'm cute and doesn't think he's hot ****.

You realize that if his people attack us, the Republicans will track this post down and blame the gay community for enabling Russian aggression.
