People really need to get there's a difference between "I'm going to ruin your life" and just having a little fun.

If someone saying you speak "******ish" ruins your life, you need more help than any monetary settlement will provide.

I punched a bully in the face once. It stopped him but his friends jumped me the next day. Luckily I started a gang over the summer. Wed get in brawls all the time. Nowadays most of them are too cracked out to remember and think we were actually friends

I'm not sure if this guy was a bully or not, but someone who just hated me for no reason. He'd hang out with some of my friends before school and would get really pissed if I ever came around. One time I let him hit me, then went to a teacher or someone in authority and told them what happened, so he would get in trouble, detention, suspension, whatever. Turns out someone told the guy I said something about him or his family, which was totally not the truth at all. Don't think the guy ever really liked me, but the threats at least stopped.

Murder is never going to go away, either. Do you recommend that we let all murderers go free because of this? Many parents have children who are dead either because they were killed by the bullies or because the psychological trauma caused them to take their own lives... to the friends and families of those kids, it's something worth obsessing over.

Maybe we should surround you with 5-10 guys that are bigger than you and see how tough you talk then. Sure, if it's a one on one situation, you can probably just stand up for yourself... if the bully has a bunch of friends that are in on it, though, there's not much that you can do. Bullies are cowards, even if you fight back and take a couple of them out, the rest will take advantage of their strength in numbers and beat you to a pulp.

That's the appropriate response.

Running to your lawyer is an entirely different matter.
